Re: for zaius137
Most trees don't grow new rings. They have them at once and they become distinct and spread with age
How interesting. How do the trees manage to know in advance how old they are going to get? Lot's of trees around these parts live to 800+ years. Seems like it might get a tad crowded in the saplings with all those rings waiting to spread.
I've looked at a pretty fair number of logs and stumps over the years and haven't seen where the unused rings might be hiding in the smaller ones. Can you shed some light on this?

Re: OS and tree rings
The fact that thousands of scientists have for hundreds of years used this information to measure ages of timbers used in constructions should be evidence enough that what you said would be impossible to have occurred as it would not be possible to use such a growth pattern for such measurements.
Who needs scientists. That picture next to my name is a logging truck. On the subject of tree rings, this guy doesn't know his ass from a hot rock.

Re: OS and tree rings
I sincerely wish it belonged to me. It's a '72 Hayes W-HD, a step below the HDX which was the really big one. 12V-71. 5x4 trans. Perfectly restored, lives in Port Alberni.
You can ride along with the owner in his work truck here:

Re: OS and tree rings
Glad you enjoyed it. The whole logging thing may be a tad off topic, but I did hope that the sight of so many logs riding around on all the nice old Pacifics and Hayes (the video was shot in 2012, all of of the trucks are 30 - 40 yrs old) might prompt OS to perhaps look at some actual trees and note that his claims about the size of tree rings do not correlate with reality.
Honestly, this thread has become a real giggle. I keep having a vision of OS standing forlornly in the pissing rain beside the road, waving a geiger counter at the passing trucks and screeching incoherencies that contradict the reality stamped on the end of every log.
Sometimes you have to wonder if people aren't spending at bit too much time indoors.

Blahblahblah
Interesting. I had not realized that an inverted tin-foil hat would make such a serviceable word-salad bowl.

Re: Correlation validation by Egyptian Chronology
I fear you have fallen into the trap of expecting the troll's words to represent something in the real world. That appears not to be the case. It appears that its use of language is more akin to Mark Twain's character Mr. Ballou, who used words for their resonance and grandeur rather than their meaning. Words, for this person, are more akin to a mantra, a drone, a soothing and repetitive collection of sounds. Kind of like really bad scat singing without the music. The lack of connection to reality is of no concern.

Well that's it exactly. The troll is just the bug on the stickpin for the students to examine.
