Hello Everyone
I'm a Canadian student and I am writting an essay on the atomic bomb. I really don't know where to start and I know very little about the subject, I'd love any advice on my question. "Why did so few scientists have initial misgivings about their development of the atomic bomb?" Thanks so much!

Some questions. Which bomb? The fission project that resulted in the first nuclear weapons, such as those that were used by the US at the end of WW2? Or the thermonuclear weapons program developed several years later?
Also, is this a essay about development, the political climate and ramifications at the time, the principle inventors, or parrellel programs in other countries (like germany, which, fortunatly, failed to produce an atomic weapon). Just give us a heads up about what aspect you are interested, and maybe we can help point you in the right direction. Your best bet would be a local library, since I assume you are going to need references for quoted or paraphrased information.
You may be able to find related books at the library or at the bookstore. If you have some questions you would like to ask, feel free.

I would assume from the wording of the question that it would be in regard to the first bombs -- two rather different realizations of the same principle.
I would posit that the initial misgivings were not expressed because
  • not everyone realized the scale of the event
  • not every scientist knew enough about the concepts
  • the intellectual curiosity overwhelmed
  • the political climate

The best thing to do before starting the writing process is researching for getting the relevant and necessary information. Also, it would help you get the clear concept about the paper topic. If it is difficult for you to formulate the essay, you could seek assistance from the best and genuine service helps to get good written works.

Guidelines On Writing A Good Essay
Keep in mind, however..that your post is written ten years after the topic was started. She is likely out of college by now but the topic takes on a life of its own as advice for any current students reading this.
We live in a world full of information. Never before in History has so much information been available so easily and quickly to the common man.
Our task is to sift through the information we gather, discriminate which we wish to incorporate, and write our papers in our own words...I suppose one should start by outlining what it is they want to say.

Saying, "I don't know," is the same as saying, "Maybe."~ZombieRingo
