Why does anything die ???
...for the same reason, to perpetuate the endless cycle of life
.....Maybe so with many plants, but not with humans and animals........except, that is, for the Son of God.

death is a continuation of life...
...all that's happened is your consciousness has separated from it's physical vessel on this planet in other words, your life spark is transmuted into the greater life of the universe and what happens then depends on the actions you performed in this life
so in that sense you aren't really dead but entering another phase in the cycle of life...
The very same life spark that powers us powers everything living, plants, animals, angels, demons and extraterrestrials
...if something lives it has a consciousness even if we can't communicate with it and thus think otherwise
