Hey everyone,
I'm new (you may have guessed!) I'm fascinated by apologetics, but unfortunately being young (and still at school!), don't have the background knowledge to understand everything I want to know. So I basically joined to pick up stuff, broaden my knowledge on both sides of this debate etc, etc.

Welcome
Welcome Atomica. We're glad to have you here.
Do be sure to review and understand the forum guidelines. We believe that it makes for more productive discussion if there is some reasonable adherance to them.
There is a whole lot to learn. Fortunately we do have some frequent posters who know rather a lot about most of the subject involved. At the same time most of us have a lot to learn too.

Also see the help under "UBB Code is ON" to the left of the edit box when you are creating a post. There is lots of cool stuff there.

Welcome, my friend. You are obviously open to new opinion. Mine is that god is whoever suits your fantsy. If a magician turns your stile, then by all means, go for it. One of the best magicians of all time is John the babtist. Nowadays, he would be called George Harrison, that is. And, Janis Joplin would be an ugly version of Mary Maglegen. But who could argue with Beth-Middler, the queen of tears? Like a rose....

Well....it's an interesting idea. But I can't say I agree with you. You can make your ideal God but in the end you're going to be dissapointed, because the idea of a deity is not for them to suit our needs.
As for John the baptist being a magician....why John the baptist? He wasn't working for his own credibility as magicians do. Are you essentially avoiding saying you think Jesus is a magician?
