Supposedly, the US national team this year is as good as ever. I'm putting my money on the US national team for that big golden trophe.
Put your money on the team that you think will win here.
Tomorrow Friday June 9 11:50 am US Eastern time ESPN2: Germany against Costa Rica. I'm putting my money on Germany. What do you guys think?
Tomorrow Friday June 9 2:55 pm US Eastern time ESPN2: Poland against Ecuador. I'm putting my money on Poland. What do you guys think?
Bettings begin now.

Wow
If England do end up beating Brazil and Germany do you think we'll ever take the St George's crosses down? I swear there are more of them about this year than ever...and oddly thousands more than on St George's Day.
Onto the OP - I actually don't care much for football so my predictions would be useless. I do predict that the States will do OK, but not great and as always we should watch out for the Dutch, the Brazillians and the Germans.
The English will do what they normally do. Give us hope, then crush it.

Re: Wow
the good thing is I dont think we can meet Germany in the Semis... I would give it up and cry now if it were possible. Out history with Germany in semis is not good.
On a different note I wonder what odds I could get on that list?
PS. USA and Australia will not get through the group phase. If either win a single game they can go home smiling.

Re: Wow
as much as I hate to admit it I think England are in with a chance this time.
I mean come on, let's face it, if they don't win it this time they never will.
watch out for Italy too.

Re: Wow
Well here's hoping that if england win they'll shut up forever about nineteen sixty fecking six... Only to be replaced by 2006.. a 40 year cycle eh?
Don't know what you guys make of this:
News: Breaking stories & updates - The Telegraph
seems to me that If Irish fans went to England to watch a game with little inflatable canary wharfs, or birmingham pubs... it would be frowned upon..

can't wait till German tourists go walking round London with little swastikas painted on their faces and 'blitz? what blitz?' t-shirts.
will the English 'give a sausage' I wonder ?!

I'm afraid I have to go with Ecuador over Poland today. Even if I thought they didn't have a snowball's chance in iano's hell, I'd still have to go with them. The last time Ecuador lost in the opening rounds of the World Cup, they overthrew the president. I DON'T feel like living in the middle of a revolution caused by a stupid football game, thank you very much.
Viva el Tri! Viva Ecuador!

Re: Whew!
I watched the game twice. That's right, I watched it while recording it, and when it was all over I rewinded the tape and watched it again.
Ecuador didn't really play it fairly. They pushed and shoved every chance they got! You could clearly tell that they were all intentional. When the Polish pushed or shoved, you could clearly tell that they were all unintentional. They were only focused on the ball.
Poland clearly had a more fairly played strategy. Perhaps they have fallen out of god's grace.
Added by edit.
England or Paraquay? Put your money down right now.
