into Aliens as a phenomena
Should UFOlogist be allowed a crack & chance at persuading all of us of "aliens" [Not the NASA's microbial hope but the one in our popular imagination] I too by word association always end up saying something like "Take me to your Leader Spaceman" On the National Geographic Channel, Peter Jennings hosted a "Special" on UFO craze (before he passed on) I remember according to the special (we needn't cite it) that there are many recent polls that suggests that millions of Americans believe I find it a fascinating obsession with "Alternative" iders(ideas) about (ET) aliens odd I guess. Many of us, remember not too far back classic Sci Fi. [sorry kinda off topic]
I wasn't the only one who failed to watch (all of the show) but I do know who was in their "team" that going to UFO Hotspots like the day before yesterday) SciFi Ch. "Team of Space Scientists, Science writers, Paranormal Advocates, Ufologists, and Forensic Technicians to the public's long interest in (not just UFOs but) UFO entities there reportedly is a phenomenon of the kidnapping of humans by UFO occupants (from recovered memories) Does this forum have people that talk about UFO alien abductees (of humans by reported aliens) Fun scary right wrong or something else . . .
PS --I'm not just FOCUSED on the "memories" stating by the victims of UFO/ET kidnappings (or talk of subterranean worlds, underneath the ground)

Re: Even in popular fiction the Pursuit of UFOs are taken as crazy
I am seeing some obstacles to more general thoughts or widespread participating in speaking about the topic. Reports of the phenomenon, are factual (I mean that there is a phenomenon) whatever its origins or explanation Some abduction reports are quite detailed. An entire subculture has developed around this. I somewhat surprised at the comments thus far. Irrespective of what your opinions are: people "think" there's something to this. I realize Religion; Science; Sociology and even anthropology seem to intersect :~
I'd like to say that facts and evidence are the important aspects of the battle but for those people, it needs to be simple and it needs to be straight forward (I would "think" a board like this straight forwardly might find the issue with the "evidence")
PS--Frankly, I was expecting a more "dismissive" thought [and reply] from the board. I guess people won't be willing to say what they think. No harm in that. I wasn't expecting the goof patrol (but that's understandable)

Yes, It will happen to U

Re: Even in popular fiction the Pursuit of UFOs are taken as crazy
The problem is that no one could make heads or tails out of your original post. Isn't that obvious to you from the comments?
Now that you actually have said something comprehensible, perhaps the issue can be discussed.
Mental states:
Reports of the phenomenon, are factual (I mean that there is a phenomenon) whatever its origins or explanation Some abduction reports are quite detailed. An entire subculture has developed around this.
Reports of such phenomena exist, just like reports of faries and angels (with photographs in some instances) prior to the modernization of such delusions into aliens in metal spacecraft and alien abduction stories.
Maybe the history of such claims is the problem. After all, such posession stories used to merit the death penalty by burning from our good Christians. Some alien believers, such as Heaven's Gate, are no longer around to convince us of thier "facts." And whatever happened to that cloned baby the Raelians were on about?
Some of it is so utterly silly, that it is difficult fo anyone with a pretense of rationality to take it seriousy. The Roswell crash of 1947 did not have alien bodies until the movie Hangar 19 came out in 1980. The headline "I gave birth to an alien baby" came out in National Lampoon 6 months before it appeared in Weekly World News.
Looney cults are nothing new, they usually only gain noteriety after mass suicides or other undesirable activities. Ask Koresh, Jim Jones, or Manson. Well, guess you could still ask Manson, just don't expect a sensible answer.

Re: Even in popular fiction the Pursuit of UFOs are taken as crazy
"Couldn't make heads or tails out of your orginal post" I was kinda glad he said it.
I have not informed myself about "Ufo Cults". I do know of specific examples like afro-centric ufo religion of Dwight York fame (or Heaven's Gate). I'll tell you what I think We've got to face facts, The feavered imagination of american abductees, however intoxicating (or intriguing), remain unverifiable (period) Generally, I think Aliens are unverifiable, that is to say, recovered accounts simply do not "clear the bar" They're not worthy of a "proof' of their existance". I don't care what people get! It's the methods (and yes, that's right)
My Comment --
trainspawned - Sorry about all that. Please, Manage to do "brief" Personally, if you stick to: "Aliens fact or fiction", other examples would be "Can hypnosis techniques be considered evidentiary", or "Do hypnotists unwittingly guide or effect the session with the alleged abductee" it could come across better See ya ;-D
