I read this book two years ago and the paperback is now out. It is one of my favourite popular science books. Cadbury gives us a great feeling of the atmosphere, people and natual science of the 19th century (from a mainstream POV). Her heros are Mary Anning (discoverer of Icthysaur) and Gideon Mantel (discoverer of the first properly identified dinosaur: Iguanadon) but we hear all about Cuvier, Lyell, Buckland, Owen, Darwin and Huxley as well. Mantel is covered the most and we personally feel every up and down that this passionate amateur dinosaur hunter goes through.
