Why do people have sex before marriage? Not only is it a sin, you risk getting STD's and getting or making some one pregnant! There is NO SUCH THING AS SAFE SEX!!!!!!! They did a study a while ago in which they took a sperm and a AIDs virus and lined them up next to each other. They kept making the image bigger and bigger until the sperm was about a couple inches long and the virus was about the size of a pencil point! STD's wouldn't be so epidimical if everyone saved sex. It's worth the wait! God made it to be special! Think about when you ask or are asked to be married, what do you say? Oh, by the way, I have Genital Herpies and you'll probably get it too? How romantic. Save it!

Presumably all of this is true after marriage, as well.
The reason that non religious people aren't bothered by biblical "sins", is because there is no evidence of the divine nature of the bible. Ergo, no evidence that anything that God allegedly said is true. Ergo, sex before marriage is OK, until such time as evidence of biblical divine truth becomes available.
Use a condom.

Well, I'm 34, am unmarried, living in sin, & have yet to get a sniffle of an STD.

You could have one and just not know it! Some have no symptoms! Some are there and just don't efect men (Clamydia). Be careful.

Then my other half would have presented with clamydia, but hasn't. Ergo, I don't have it.
Other than that, why would I worry about a "disease" that has no symptoms?
You've missed the point. It is entirely possible to enjoy sex before marriage without unnecassary risk.

I see that you mean well but I think this is a serious enough subject to be completely accurate about. Chlamydia can be asymptomatic, but women are less likely to have symptoms than men, though the life-threatening complications from the disease are usually pregnancy-related. Chlamydia infection rates in US adolescent females can be as high as 10%. Men are not screened as frequently as women. Public education and screenings are effective against the disease, most strains of chlamydia are curable.
http://www.cdc.gov/nchstp/dstd/Fact_Sheets/chlamydia_facts.htm
I think philosophical considerations are more important in discussing this area than threats of STD's, though STD's are suprisingly common in the general population. I also need to point out that the United State's South, traditionally one of the most conservative and religious parts of the US, has the highest incidence of STD's.
There are some hypotheses for this going around but nobody really knows why.

"There are some hypotheses for this going around but nobody really knows why."
--I live in the South. And to put it as simple as possible, I think I know why, its a bit of a trend, start something somewhere and its going to scatter in your area. Besides most people down here never move or have lived here all their life.

I also live in the South. I think it's because of general poverty and the failure of the educational system to teach people about that sort of thing, instead they just tell everyone to be abstinent.

//Not because everyone is going at it like bunnies in their trailers?//
Nah, dude, its too hot to do it in the trailer since the AC died... thats why they got *extended* cab trucks!
On a side note.
Human Papillomavirus (HPV)
How common is HPV?
In the United States, HPV is considered to be the most common sexually transmitted disease (STD). Some studies estimate that the majority of the sexually active population is exposed to at least one or more types of HPV - although most do not develop symptoms. Because HPV is so common and prevalent, a person does not need have to have a lot of sexual partners to come into contact with this virus.
http://www.ashastd.org/stdfaqs/hpv.html
I cant find the link now, but a few years back a friend of mine worked herself into a frenzy thinking she'd gotten this.
She found websites that indicated that as much as 70% of the population was infected with HPV.
Thankfully, I'm still a virgin...
Yea, right.
Inside my left elbow.
Sleep well.

Created Adam and Eve, and let them mate ... I don't recall anything
about him marrying them first.
There's a commandment about adultery, but that's to do with
going with other people's wives, not singles.
And since Mary Magdalen was a prosititute I guess Jesus didn't
really have a problem with the idea.

You risk getting run over by a bus everytime you cross a busy
city street ... doesn't have a real bearing on doing it in the
first place.
If we never did anything dangerous, we'd just stay indoors and
do nothing ... and even that can be dangerous (heart disease
etc.)

Why ?
If you're a creationist then you have to accept that God not
only created STD's, he also infected some people with them
sometime after the Great Flood.
If that's the case then surely they serve some wider, mysterious
purpose all God's own.

Caution about STD's is wise, likewise unwanted pregnancy.
Base your caution on known fact and NOT religous dogma though!!
