This is an absolutely fascinating sci-fi read that traces a gentical lineage from Cretaceous primates to modern humans to the end of life on Earth. It takes a "day in the life of" approach which is really fascinating. While I disagree with much of his speculation about things past and present, I found this to be a book I thought about ALOT after reading it. I am teaching a class next semester called "Introduction to Human Evolution" and am making this book required reading.

Doctor Bashir: "Of all the stories you told me, which were true and which weren't?"
Elim Garak: "My dear Doctor, they're all true"
Doctor Bashir: "Even the lies?"
Elim Garak: "Especially the lies"

Science fiction = human evolution; just pointing out an error - right ?

the imagination
I think stirring the imagination and steering it towards a certain conclusion really helps solidify the evo argument in students' minds.

Re: the imagination
Probably the same thing the Left Behind series does for its readers. Fiction can have a power to clarify ideas and make them compelling.
