To be honest, guideline enforcement is something I struggle with. I believe everyone and their ideas should be treated with respect. That doesn't mean we need to have the decorum of the Supreme Court, but neither should we be like the British Parliament (sorry, Brits
).
I appreciate SLP's contributions here and very much hope I haven't offended him, but I was becoming concerned that the repeated negative comments about Fred Williams and JP could erupt into something worse. Not that Fred and JP are blameless, but Fred's barely been here and SLP is bringing his history with Fred here. JP has been here a lot and has walked very close to the line several times, but he's always toned things down when I've issued guideline reminders.
I am sure a case can be made that I am enforcing the guidelines inconsistently, and if I have then I apologize to SLP, but I don't believe perfection in this role is possible. I admit up front that I will make mistakes, but I am committed to doing the best job I can in the time I have available.

Thats ok bud, did you ever hear now Micheal Hesseltine got the nickname Tarzan?
It was back before the Torries were last in power and during a rather heated exchange a bout of fisticuffs broke out between the front benches. Never one to avoid the oportunity to meet force with force "Tarzan" jumped to his feet grabbed the (rather large and heavy) ceremonial mace from the table and started swinging away with it.......
And you think you have problems Percy.......

Wow, UK politics is interesting...
A US Congressman did something like that once, but his state withdrew from the Union shortly after. Plantation owners were sending him new walking canes for months afterwards.

Get this despite having no army Vermont declared war on nazi Germany 6 months before the rest of the US (i.e 6 months before Pearl Harbour)...
If the US was the mystery machine and all the states cast members of Scooby Doo Vermont would be Scrappy.....
"yeah let me at em...."
I love this state....

Thats as maybe Mark the fact stands that a small New England state (the biggest city, Burlington, still has a smaller population than Harlow despite a large influx of people from the Boston area in the 60`s/70`s)(there are still more trees than people) declared war on Germany 6 months before the rest of the US finally figured out that it wasn`t a war they could sit out on the bench......

SLP's suspension of posting privileges has been extended an additional 24 hours until Thursday, 2/28/2002, at 3 PM for a violation of rule 7 of the guidelines, participation as more than one ID. The SLP2 ID has been deleted and the associated email address placed on the ban list.
