Lithodid-Man on Decapods
Author: Lithodid-Man
Forum: Biological Evolution
Thread: Living fossils expose evolution
Message: 255: Fun with Decapod Taxonomy
Lithodid-Man has consistently brought unanswered science in to what has otherwise been a pretty grotty thread, all his posts in this thread have been of a high standard but this foray into the details of Decapod taxonomy is exemplary.

As promised, Cedre
Cedre's Message 286 is a good example of what we see far too few here. Admitting you are wrong when shown clear data. There are a lot of people that could learn from this. And therefore, I nominate this post for PotM.

I hunt for the truth
I am the one Orgasmatron, the outstretched grasping hand
My image is of agony, my servants rape the land
Obsequious and arrogant, clandestine and vain
Two thousand years of misery, of torture in my name
Hypocrisy made paramount, paranoia the law
My name is called religion, sadistic, sacred whore.
-Lyrics by Lemmy Kilmister of Motorhead

Re: As promised, Cedre
I second the nomination. Congrats to Cedre for being mature enough to concede a part of his original conception was misguided and to Huntard for acclaiming such a (in to far too many cases) difficult decision.

The idea of the sacred is quite simply one of the most conservative notions in any culture, because it seeks to turn other ideas - uncertainty, progress, change - into crimes.

NosyNed's perfectly apt summation
Author: NosyNed
Forum: Biological Evolution
Thread: Living fossils expose evolution
Message: Message 403
Sometimes you see a post of such brilliance and simplicity you wish you'd made it first, this is just such a post. In just two sentences, and four photos NosyNed brilliantly, concisely and incisively sums up the flacid weakness of Calypsis4's argument.
Majestic.

Hi Mr Jack
I'll second, and note that your post, Message 402, is not too shabby either.
Enjoy.

Re: As promised, Cedre
I want to be third to nominate Cedre's post. There is hope for you still.
Wow, is it a 'modern day miracle' that he admitted that he was wrong when shown the clear data?
Congratulations to Cedre!

Modulous is carrying a "5" in our current dubious rating system. I think that "5" is bogus, but he may well be closer to deserving it than any other member.
"5" message ratings come cheep - Getting a POTM message much better.

Re: Modulous at "Pseudoskepticism and logic"
Seconded.
While the thread probably should not have been started (since it was essentially a snide dig at another member) Modulous has made some extremely worthwhile contributions to it, maybe enough to justify the whole thread.

Yep.
Bluegenes post Message 551 in the same thread is also worthy of a mention IMO.
