Three cheers for the most annoying (and vain) type of thread in Forumdom.
I suppose I may as well give some brief background if I'm going to do this properly. I'm currently a sophomore at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities College of Liberal Arts, majoring in linguistics (at the moment working on Castilian Spanish, Modern Irish, Finnish, German, and Old English) and anthropology (with a focus in archaeology), with minors in history and medieval studies (huzzah for overlapping course requirements
). I've focused most of my studies in post-Alesia Celtic Europe, especially Ireland, but I still dabble in matters Egyptian, Roman, medieval, and pre-Neolithic.
As far as forums and debate go, I found this place through Lysimachus. I'm a long-time member of the forums at
http://www.someplacesomwhere.com, where I've debated both Lys and his brother Hydarnes sporadically for years. Specifically, he linked here in a 'debate' over The Exodus Case, which I find to be total bunk. Which moves nicely into the last bit of my ego's airtime. When it comes to basic beliefs, I'm a non-denominational neo-Pagan and former strong atheist with a very strong evolutionist bent (or, to put it another way, 99.9% certainty that modern evolutionary theory is fact), slightly less faith in the Big Bang theory (I don't know, 70%?), and a predilection for the type of mytho-historical analysis of history employed by authors like Jean Markale.
So. Yeah.
