It surprises me a bit that there's no topic about this.
What is this board's august members' opinion on the current Wikileaks affaire?

Haha i was waiting for someone to make a topic about wikileaks lol.
A lot of dirty laundry is coming out.
The lowest of the low is the information us diplomats had to gather about country leaders, ok phone numbers i get tough account numbers and the other stuff that is espionage, and illegal in most of Europe under the privacy law.
And some other dirty laundry from our one our president "Barbie" Borut Pahor negotiated a visit to Obama for the price of one Guantanamo prisoner to be put in our facilities wtf he threw away the millions you offer other countries so he can look important.
Personally i hope more people come out with such documents so that the "mortal" people like you and me can see what our governments are doing behind our backs.

Assange has pulled back the curtain and revealed the puppet masters with their strings. He should be commended.
The attempts to shut him down are like so many rats scurrying for the dark. Labeling him a terrorist really shows what the war on terror is all about. If keeping secrets is so legitimate then why was RIM ,maker of the blackberry, forced to reveal their encryption codes?
Honesty and integrity do not require secrets or, at least, not so many.
Remember, 'You can't handle the truth.'

Yea i do get that some things should be kept from the public for the safety of the people tough what was revealed here was kept from the public for the safety of the puppet masters.

Assange is a massive dick.
The US are more to blame for the current set of leaks than WikiLeaks is.
WikiLeaks in general performs a service that serves both good and ill in about equal measure.

That would explain the story about a burst condom, which the Swedish have turned into a rape case...

A mixed reaction here.
There's little in the way of a smoking gun in the latest releases. So it doesn't serve much purpose, other than to embarrass the people involved. Most of what has been released shows that the diplomats were doing what we had always assumed that they were doing.
The reaction against wikileaks also seems excessive. A good principle is that if you don't want stuff to leak, then don't write it down in the first place. If you must write it down, then share it with only very few people. It seems that the US Government was massively careless.

I read that one of the girls had asked him to use a condom, and he'd refused ???
Now that's either a simple private disagreement, or it's rape... and if it's rape, then the condom issue is irrelevant. Fishy as hell to me...

Actually, I know hardly anything about the Swedish accusations, I was merely trying a pun on the words "massive dick".
Anyway, I heard on the radio this morning that the general public in the US know little about the Wikileaks story, allegedly because the local US newspapers report very little on international affairs. Somehow, I doubt it. Can anyone from the US corroborate this?

Haha rofl
Hackers attack Master card because it stopped business with Wikileaks. They are also attacking the pages of the Swedish prosecution.
I think the governments that are involved should stop trying to stop wikileaks it only makes them look more guilty. And the fun will not stop for a while only a few thousand of the 250 000 alleged documents have been released. And the worst is yet to come Julian Assange dies they will only come sooner.

It is certainly true that most US newspapers report little on international affairs. And it is true that the American public is massively ignorant about what happens outside the US borders.
There has been reporting on wikileaks, though probably rather uneven reporting. On another discussion forum, I see a topic 59% thinks WikiLeaks designated a terrorist organization.

But I am rather intrigued by this whole affair...
