For example, Faith claims that all of the layers above the Vishnu Schist were laid down in one year. She certainly must have some method of dating to be able to make a claim like that. How does she know that a given layer was not put down in say, the year 123BCE? Or maybe in 1066CE.
She has been pretty clear that all those layers are the result of things happening in one specific year so she MUST have some way to date the top and bottom layers within a 12 month period.
Perhaps this could be bumped, say every quarter, since surely there must be some person within the YEC community that knows how they determined the age of things? Faith has asserted more than once that the layers above the base of the Grand Canyon were laid down during the Biblical Flood yet there is nothing in either of the Biblical Flood myths that would even hint at layers of rock being deposited.
Since the Biblical Flood myths do not have anything that would help in dating layers Faith must be using some other criteria to know that the Vishnu Schists were somehow formed before the flood and also which layers were laid down after the flood. After all, all the material deposited during the flood had to have been created before the flood and we know that all the conventional processes have continued after the flood until the present. She or some other YEC must have developed dating methods comparable to what conventional geologist, archeologist, astronomers, paleontologists, chemists, physicists and historians use to determine relative and absolute ages; at least to determine which layers were formed during the flood and how the material deposited by the flood was formed before the flood.
I can understand your reluctance to open this up to discussion since it really is very likely that YECs may not have any models, mechanism, method, process, procedure or thingamabob to determine relative or absolute age of anything; but who knows, perhaps someday there might be a YEC that can provide such a process.
