It looks like with some development, we can cheaply turn greenhouse gasses into booze.
Just a moment...

So whilst Jesus turns something benign like water into booze - science just has to go that extra yard and do it with a greenhouse gas !
That's just showing off !

Could there be any greater conceit, than for someone to believe that the universe has to be simple enough for them to be able to understand it ?

Copper nanoplates. Those are not cheap at all. Efficient, but not cheap.

Now make your car run on ethanol and generate the power with solar panels.
enjoy

I know of a great way of turning ethanol back into CO2 and H2O!! In fact, it is such a popular job that people will pay to turn ethanol into CO2 and H2O. We could even build establishments where people could gather and share in the task.

The conclusion states that the CO2 must first be dissolved in water, and that the approach probably isn't economical:
quote:
We report an electrocatalyst which operates at room temperature and in water for the electroreduction of dissolved CO2 with high selectivity for ethanol. The overpotential...probably precludes economic viability for this catalyst...
It goes on to say...well, I'm not quite sure what. I think it's saying the results are promising and that more research is needed.

Yes, because that is where the H+ is generated via electrical current, if I followed the process correctly.
I remember an experiment in High School where two electrodes were use to make H2 and O2 filling two glass upside down test tubes as the water was displaced by the gas, with the volume in the H2 being twice the volume in the O2 test tube ... because it came from H2O ...
2H2O + energy → 2H2 + O2
But you knew that.
