So was there anything you ever read (in the Bible or wherever) that really had you excited at the time, and you always remember it?
I remember being particularly excited when I (long ago) was reading of Alexander the Great moving his troops east of Iran, and coming across a "King Porus". I immediately wondered if this was a Hindu. I doubted much would be known and that seems to be the case today.
Many years later...
The internet speaks of Porus as a certain Hindu (including the Wikipedia side bar which has "Hinduism" placed on his religion fact line), but it never was demonstrated to me.
The Wikipedia page mentions how little is known of Porus' kingdom, but I have yet to find anybody admit that the religion isn't even known.
Pauravas - Wikipedia
Sorry, that's the best I can think of.
You?

Gandhi
For me it was Gandhi, and the idea of political/government change without war and violence.
