Well I gave this forum a shot, it seems to me that it is unfair and unjust.
I was in the middle of a geat debate, and the topic got closed. I didn't see any reason to close it, other than it might have been off topic slightly, but was still in a way related to the topic.
Rhain has insulted me, and labeled me. I find it amazing how he can get all that from a forum. He went to great lengths to talk with me, and I wasn't allowed the privlege of answering back. I'm sorry if my life doesn't evolve around this forum, and I can't get to answer back soon enough.
This to me is people trying to control our freedom of speech. I know I don't own this forum, but I have had several forum, and I never closed a thread or removed a post, unless it was really really insulting or down right rude to the point where legal issues could be involved, or a fight breaking out. But if the conversation is under control and going somewhere, why close a thread?
I will hang around if I'm even allowed to do this after this post, but I can't see the admins view on this. Was I getting too close to making a valid point about God or something? I don't get it.

I didn't see any reason to close it
There's a technical glitch in the forum database that means that threads have to be closed once they pass 300 or so messages.
It's nothing personal, but it's something you would have known if you had read Adminnemooseus's closing comments. I'm not sure why you chose to level accusations of bias instead of reading the plainly stated reasons for the thread being closed.
He went to great lengths to talk with me, and I wasn't allowed the privlege of answering back.
Stop whining about it then, and open a new thread. It's not rocket science.
But if the conversation is under control and going somewhere, why close a thread?
Because the thread breaks the forum if it gets too long.

River, like the frog stated, It is forum policy to close threads that reach 300 posts. After that length of time the threads tend to get corrupted.
Moose did warn everyone that it was time to close the thread and invited closing statements. Generally, if people still want to post on the subject, they start a new thread with a link back to the original.
Please don't leave over this. I for one was enjoying our discussions.

Ok, that's awesome. Thanks for explaining. I was unable to respond before the end or the warning of the end, because of my work.
Forgive me for I am n00b to this forum then.
All new threads must go in the new topics forum?

Yes, that's correct, please propose any new topic or a resumption of a topic closed due to length in the [forum=-25] forum. Requests to reopen a prematurely closed topic should be made in the Thread Reopen Requests thread.

OT, but isn't it about time we changed the title of that thread to something a little less tortured, like "Thread re-open requests" or "Premature Thread Closings"?
Or do we just leave it that way as a tributory Bradism?

Good suggestion, I've just changed the title.

I'd suggest that in the event that either the main topic is still going, or that there is a major sub-topic worthy of further discussion at ~300 posts, the admin who closes the thread should consider creating a continuation thread without waiting for a request.
I don't beleive that it should be automatic or even common - most threads seem to run out of significant points well before that - but it might be helpful if the option were there.
