Hi All,
I'm new to the boards and I'm quite interested in the creation vs evolution topic, as it underlines entirely what we are and how we came about.
There are so many arguements one can go on about but I think the arguements should only be about the very basic fundamentals of both evolution and creation. To be more specific: if we know the age of the earth is 4.56 BYA then essentially we can throw out the bible, can't we? It's quite harsh to say that and I am beyond confident it would upset many many people but wouldn't we all just like to have the truth and live accordingly? I certainly would!
Now, there are some that would say "yes, the earth is that old but the bible was written by man and it can have mistakes and 'colourful' ideas." Well, in my mind, why would God bother making the bible if he already knew that man would add a little a take a little out... basically tamper with it. I mean if the old age is right shouldn't that be setting off huge alarms in the minds of believers?
So, to refine my post and make it easier for people replying to me my question is this:
Do we know for sure Earth is in fact billions of years old? ie: does the dating work?
--if the answer is "yes it does work" then genesis might as well be torn out of every bible--
...and logically if the entire book of genesis is based on a false teaching, how the heck can we know the rest is true?!
If you have real answers please sock it to me.

I don't care what the truth is as long as it's the truth.
