Jaderis on Obama-Paranoia
Author: Jaderis
Forum: Coffee House
Thread: The Obama Nation
Message #: 33, Message 33
Jaderis hits the nail right on the head with this one, giving the topic a much needed grounding in reality.
The cries of socialism from the conservatives are really rather amusing because Obama and pretty much every other Democrat in any office in America are so far to the right that they would be called conservatives in most other Western countries
Absolutely. We Europeans are often perplexed by the spectacle of US commentators accusing candidates of "socialism", as though that were a) within a million miles of the truth, and b) tantamount to paedophilia or something.
Kudos to Jaderis for pointing out what ought to be obvious to all.
{Another thing that should be obvious is that I should have put this here in the first place, instead of in July's POTM. Thanks Percy.}

The "Why is the Intelligent Designer such an idiot?" topic
Why is the Intelligent Designer such an idiot?
I'm not going to separate out specific posters, but this topic has struck me as being one of the fresher and more interesting to come along in quite a while.
Currently at message 57.

Anglagard provides a venue for contemplation
Author: Anglagard
Forum: Social and Religious Issues---->Bible Study
Thread: Is a literal reading of the Bible an insult to its authors?
Message #: 169
As a Christian and as a thinking Christian who believes that God gave me a brain and the responsibility and right to question what I am taught, I find Anglagards opinion to be interesting...particularly the links that he provides in this post. I believe that salvation is a free gift, but I also believe that sanctification involves a synergistic communion between God and ourselves.
In that light, I commend Anglagard for his thoughtful post.

Re: Anglagard provides a venue for contemplation
Thanks Phat and CS.
I just feel that attacks upon those who urge people to actually read the Bible as opposed to those who just recite it are unwarranted, regardless of source or belief. I also wanted to point out the theology of "my way, or the highway" is incredibly arrogant and authoritarian when posited by mere mortals.
The real credit belongs to Brian and Archer who have relentlessly shown the Bible is a work to be contemplated, not just regurgitated.

Thanks, RAZD. So far no response so guess it is a real stumper for the anti-evo crowd.

Rrhain on "Voodoo Economics" at "The Obama Nation" topic

All I can say is, "I like it". The admin mode would like to see the theme spun off as a new topic, as it is rather remote to the theme of the topic it is in (IMO, of course).
