1. It depends. The "They" in the question is too broad for a single response.
However, Do I have respect for any group that attempts to stifle science with a narrow religious view - which has failed again and again to establish a scientific basis , and resorts to political leverage to pervert the science taught in public schools...
NOPE. No respect for that or those who would perpetrate it.
2. Again, it depends. Any challenge put to a theory can only serve Everyone's benefit. Either the theory will be falsified, or supported yet again.
But when religious zealots ignore HOW their objections were ackowledged, addressed and demonstrated as falacious - and they continue to roll out long discredited obejections, then we find ourselves in an Anti-Intellectual endeavor to reclaim ground that has already been established. Can't we move on ? Must science continually re-invent the wheel because some square-sided individuals can't 'Roll with the Changes' ?
3. Nothing that time and peer review won't weed out - if allowed to step past the attempts at politicizing science.

"Freedom of Religion" equates to Freedom -FROM- those religions we find unbelievable.
