& no, everything forming from a coalescing, spinning system DOESN'T have to spin the same way.

Hi, Redstang!
Welcome back! I hope you had a great holiday!
I'm sorry I took so long to reply, but I finally posted an answer to you at the Is the Bible the Word of God thread. If you're still interested take a look.

It became difficult to answer the volume of posts I was receiving. I'll try to get to that post.

In summary, the planets rotation was never fast in the first place, but because of recent evidences of Venus' mantle structure, the friction would have caused even more slowing, as well as atmospheric friction (Venus' atmosphere is much denser than ours). Once the day becomes longer than the year, the planet is rotating "backwards".
Additionally, in a rotating, condensing, coalescing system, motion in the opposite direction is not precluded due to eddies, collision etc. Not that this has been shown to account for the spin of Venus.

Hi Mark,
Thanks for the link, it was right to the point. I wonder if you'd mind editing your post to add a sentence or two summarizing the link, it keeps the guidelines happy.
Thanks!

Umm given that you seem to be often in a minority as a virtue of your own beliefs, it seems slightly odd to complain that the ratio isn`t 1:1.
the mathmatics of it is quite simple, for example, given a population of 20 posters, 5 of which form one ideological group and the remainder another, if all posters post at the same rate then there will be more posts from one group than the other...
We are`nt ganging up on you there are just more of us...
