Panda's Thumb directed me to a great article about visualising microfossils which had been embedded in opaque amber.

I love the fact that this non-invasive form of analysis can give a decent first pass look at the gross morphology of hundreds of new microfossils. The video linked at the bottom of the page is definitely worth a look!
