Chemics 08
Does anyone know of a chemical compound etc ending in 08. May seem like strange question but it would be really useful to know!
Thanks

Thread moved here from the Proposed New Topics forum.

I parked you here for now. Its not exactly the right forum, but we no longer have a forum for short subjects, so this will have to do.
Welcome to EvC by the way. Stick around...you might like it!

Welcome to the fray amyc

Presumably you mean Oxygen and O8.
May seem like strange question but it would be really useful to know!
It depends on the conventions arbitrarily used to write down the "formulas" for molecules. One could choose to start with the atom closest to the beginning of the periodic chart and list the total of each atom as you go, and thus you only need a molecule with 8 oxygens in it - should be relatively easy to find.
The conventions used for organic chemistry group commonly occurring patterns of molecules and then counts the repetitions of those patterns and counts them independent of the same atoms occurring elsewhere, hence CHOOH as oppossed to CH2O2
See Amino acid - Wikipedia
and Folate - Wikipedia
for a couple of examples.
Enjoy

SUB-script & SUP-erscript
Spelling is close enough to be confusing but
Just think "'sup bro?" for doing this: y=x2+2x+1 to get y=x2+2x+1
You can also do y=e-x2 to get y=e-x2
Same with subs
You can also do N1o to get N1o although the results aren't as visible.
Enjoy

Sodium peroxydisulfate (AKA "persulfate") is Na2S2O8. Pretty common stuff in the oilfield.
