I thought it might be an interesting topic to see if we can brainstorm possible alternative theories to evolution, abiogenesis and creation.
The only other one which comes to mind is alien intervention- anything from panspermia of simple spores to raelian visions of deliberate genetic modification by alien superbeings (which only displaces the origin of life problem but is a fresh angle on evolution). Or is this just a redefinition of "god" as little green man? Is there another way of looking at the whole issue which has been overlooked?
Is it simply a question of whether or not there was an outside influence in the generation of life on earth, and if so what was the influence? And if there was an influence then where can its origins be traced to? Assuming evidence of intervention is someday found doesn't involving external influence only displace the problem to the origin of said influence? How do you escape the need for a something from nothing step to kick start it all? How tenable is an immortal universe model with continuous creation and destruction?
