Dear Funkmasterfreaky
Since I regard you as my brother in faith and the question you raise is sensitive then I am afraid ill perhaps offense you with this answer that I`m going to make.
May Allah (God ) Forgive me if thats the case.
You ask the question why we as moslems don`t believe in the trinity of God, and Ill try to explain here.
My post will be divided in parts , where the Islamic and Christian
beliefs will toggle, for the sake of simplicity.
quote:
We as moslems believe that Allah is the creator and sustainer of this Universe.
And just like in your faith ,Christianity, our relation to Allah is that of a slave to a master.
And our sole duty is to worship Him alone.
What Allah(God) did before the creation of Universe is not known in Islam because it isn`t known to us in our holy book, the Quran.
But brother, here is where our religions differ.
According to Christian understanding God is something else as well.
That there is a communion of love between Father , son and the Holy Spirit.
But this communion was not there in the beginning of time, unless one is stating that He failed to mention it in the Bible.
To this the Christian response is that before time began (and in eternity) God was this Communion.
It is only mentioned implicitly in the Bible, the Christian belief in the Son of God who is sent by his Father to send the Holy Spirit. It isn't mentioned explicitly however, and the "God as Communion" belief developed within Chistianity after meditating upon the belief that Jesus was the Son of God.
The Islamic response is then why is it that God has explicitly mentioned in the Bible that he is One----and why has he left us to implicitly believe that he is a triune God?
The Christian response to this is that God is indeed One--in Being (what God is).
But the Christian understanding goes further, that God, in this Oneness of Being, is Triune in persons (who God is) --Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
The islamic response is that did any Jew know of this formula of Trinity before the coming of Jesus or worshipped a "Triune" God?
God Almighty was sending prophets to the Jews for centuries before the time of Jesus, why did none of these previous prophets tell their people that God was a "Triune" God?
The Christian response is that no Jew did, as far as they no know. It is a decidedly Christian revelation that builds on what the Jews already knew--that God is One. And the way they understand it, Jesus was the prophet that was sent to reveal this triune nature about God.
The Islamic response; why did God wait to favor us alone with this knowledge of "Trinity' and choose to deprive many thousands of generations before Jesus?
However brother , my intention with this post haven`t been to convince you of the flaws wit Christianity.
If I have by this post weakened your faith in God with merely an ounce, the may Allah punish me on the Last Day.
My intention has been to bring you closer to Him, not away..
The Quran Upholds that which is truth in the Bible and rejects what is falsehood.
That is, it restates what has been said in the Bible and removes what has been added by human pen.
One thing I whant to ask you FunkMasterFreaky, you say that Jesus himself said that he was the son of Allah(God).
But hasen`t MCDowell/Josh admitted that the Original scriptures have been lost.
What you have now is from the 4th century onwards.
All manuscripts date back to the earliest---4th century.
He himself states that many parts of the Bible have been altered or lost.
For example the verse 1 John 5:7 is not to be found in the earlier manuscripts:
quote:
"1 John 5:7 'For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one."
This verse is not to be found in the Greek copies, is it true or not?
May Gods peace be with you brother.
Sincerely Delshad

Thank you very much for your response to my question Delshad, I take no offense to your belief, I asked out of curiosity. My wife and I have beens spending some time lately trying to find out what Islamic religion teaches. As to your question at the end of the post, I will do some research to find out more about this. I am sorry to respond so briefly to your detailed post, I hope you take no offence. I cannot give much more of a response until I do some homework on the trinity issue. This is a source of confusion amongst Christians themselves, and admittedly I do not know as much as I should about it.
May God (Allah) richly bless you.

Saved by an incredible Grace.
