How can The Bible be called the literal word of God when the Old and New Testaments keep contradicting each other?
I can't quote exact versus (but I'm sure someone will fill me in), but here are some examples:
OT: Don't eat pork.
NT: No, actually, its OK.
OT: An eye for an eye.
NT: That's a bad idea. Turn the other cheek.
Absolutely no consistency! It seems like the OT was written for one time (not eating shellfish made a lot of sense thousands of years ago) while the NT made quite a few corrections for people at the time. Why can't we write a New New Testament for modern times?

Too Broad
Hey Whirlwind,
Your topic is way too broad. Check out the The Bible: Accuracy and Inerrancy thread and see what has already been address and try to find a specific comparison that hasn't been addressed yet.
I also suggest that you take the time to find the specific verses that you feel contradict each other and explain why you feel they contradict each other.
The examples you gave so far show me that you really haven't studied these contradictions.
As is, I'm not inclined to promote this topic. Let me know if you are willing to focus your topic.

Narrowing?
Hey Whirlwind,
Haven't heard from you. Do you plan to narrow your focus on this topic?
