Spelling errors in posts.

The issues concerned with writing a good post are spelling, grammar, style, consistency, and content.If people don't understand what you write, and your spelling, grammar, style, and consistency are OK, then maybe you should consider that the content is lacking? whatsoever. 'Favourite' = British spelling, 'favorite' = American English spelling.

Actually, RiverRat, favourite is the correct English spelling, it is only in US English that the u is dropped - just as in colour and armour. Really it should be whatsoever as one word but Hyphenating what-so-ever is an also accepted alternative usage when emphasis is desired. Sorry. But capitalising Hyphenating is wrong.In any case, you are clearly missing the point. A misspelling or two isn't a problem; frequent misspelling and (worse) grammatical errors make it harder to understand what you are saying. Not bothering to put effort into it is rude because you are then expecting others to put in extra effort to understand your post. Taht is ture but you msut udenntsard taht it is mroe dlicfifut to ursnndtaed a magsese if you dn'ot slepl it correctly. It's possible to figure out what you mean, sure, but it takes longer to understand your post and we can be less sure that the meaning we take from it is correct.Ultimately you should care about your spelling and grammar because if you don't it is a) rude and b) less likely that you will communicate your point clearly. I know that some people are better at math than language.Just as I need to ask for help and use a calculator because I am not the greatest in math, people who aren't as good at writing need to use the tools available to them to help.But if you do not use the tools available and present many mistakes in your attempt at communication, it simply appears that you are lazy at best or uneducated at worst....which is what I said in my previous post.

Well, that's the art of clear, precise and fluent articulation and manipulation of the written word.It takes work and practice to do it well. That is a valid spelling of that word, rat. In the British Isles.

Dude your not getting the point.The point is not whether or not spelling is important, or that we should care about it.I do spell check more than half of my posts, and through that process I have learned to be a better speller. I have noticed even sometimes there were no corrections needed.My point is, that if you mis-spell a word, AND the other person still understands it, they should not be trying to say that your whole message is no good, just because you misspelled a word..If you read it and understand what it says, even with the bad spelling, then your point was made, and there is no real need to point something out.Only one time was something pointed out to me, that was a constant mistake that I appreciated.Even that time, the person knew what I was saying, yet try to claim that WHAT I was saying, not how I was saying it, or writing it was wrong.Get it now?

Thank God I use them most of the time then, sheesh.

The bible is written very well, yet many people do not understand it's meaning.
