Once again, to vote third party is to elect the one you don't want.

The saddest thing about Ventura's administration, to me, is that he ran away completely after his term was up. He could have made a long term, lasting impact on Minnesota politics by going out and supporting third party candidates and creating a viable party.
If memory serves, Tim Penny ran at the end of Ventura's term as an Independant. Penny had a good shot at it on his own merits, until Wellstone died. I really think that kind of shook everyone up to the point where they all went back to their "safe places," less likely to take a chance on a third party. But I still think that if Ventura had put his powerful persona to work throughout the state, Minnesota might well have a three party political landscape right now.
