Re: playing with fire
If we let it spread to other people
How is it going to spread to other people? That's basically the topic of the thread.
People are going to ask you what it would take to make you gay, but I think we all know that you're going to answer "absolutely nothing,", right?
Doesn't that sort of beg the question - if nothing could possibly turn you gay, why would anyone else be any different? Why would you be the only person in America who's sexual orientation isn't open to change? Shouldn't we conclude that, in fact, nobody chose to be gay or straight? And that nobody can be turned gay who isn't gay already?

Re: playing with fire
One word. Children.
So, you're saying that if your parents had told you to be gay, you would have been?
Does that really hold up? How often, in fact, have you done what your parents have told you to do? If your parents called you up and said "you should be gay, right now" would that suddenly make you gay?
If it wouldn't, why would it work that way for anyone else?

They are talking about hommosexuals adopting children. There habits will spread to them
How? Are you saying that if your parents had been gay, you would be, too? How come that isn't true for anyone else? If what you say is true why aren't the children of homosexuals any more likely to be gay than anybody else's children?

Provide me with statistics that show that being gay is a normalcy in society, and that there is a good percentage of homosexuals. It's really not.
The current estimates say about 3-4% of the population is gay. I'd say that's a good percentage. For instance, that's a larger percentage than the number of people who are Jewish, and nobody says that being Jewish "isn't normal."
Don't you find it interesting that, on a show like "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy", not only do they use the word "queer" without having to explain how it's not an insult in context, but that the show really isn't about homosexuality? It's about makeovers for guys. They don't go to bathhouses. They don't talk about famous gay people or the history of gay rights activism. The fact that the five guys are gay (and I'm really not even sure that Ted the food guy is gay; I think it's an act) is basically window dressing. It's a gimmick.
Gay is a gimmick on TV. That's how normal it is these days. It's gone from a taboo, to the domain of saturday afternoon specials and Lifetime miniseries, straight into gimmicks-ville. Totally normal.

ok 3-4,.. 96-97... Normal, sure. : - /
So. what you're saying is that Jews aren't normal? That, in fact, they're less normal than the gays?
How am I supposed to take you seriously when you say things this dumb?

I would say that if you look at the people around you one in a hundred is gay, not one in ten.
I would say that since you don't know the people around me, you have no idea how many are gay. And if we're going to play the "it depends on where you live" game, I would suggest that, in Nashville (one of the places where they still tie gay men to fences and beat them to death for fun, etc) only one in every ten gay people would be stupid enough to come out of the closet. (10% of 10% of the population would be 1%.)
As it turns out, I'd say about one out of every 20 people I know is gay. (That would be about 5%.) This is not a very good sample because, as it turns out, I don't really know the sexual orientation of more than about 20 people.
