Re: The great "I AM"
NJ,
great so who provided the design for "God"?
"I AM" -Exodus 3:14
Well, so am I. Doesn't mean I designed myself, even if I claimed it to be so. If the design inference is valid then it applies to the designer, too, or it's nothing more than fallacial special pleading.
What you believe is irrelevant.

Re: The great "I AM"
Rob,
You're conflating design with causation.
No, I'm not (but even if I were it would still be special pleading), the original question had the word "design" in it.

Re: The great "I AM"
Rob,
He most certainly is special. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.
If you are going to apply the design inference to complex things then you have to be able to apply the same rationale to god. He's designed or he isn't. If you don't then you are guilty of the logical fallacy: special pleading.
It is not up for negotiation. You are logical or you aren't. Your choice.

Re: The great "I AM"
Rob,
Who said God is complex? He is actually very simple... 'I Am'.
In that case, "I am", too, & therefore I wasn't designed.
QED.
Whatever "mind" conceived of all the physical values & complex arrangements that must exist in order for life to exist can not be considered "simple". It is far, far more complex than anything that exists on earth.
You must open your eyes to that which is outside of you. And that is not possible without help from outside.
So must god, he'll realise soon enough that he was designed. In other words, please stop preaching

Re: The great "I AM"
Rob,
God cannot be designed, because H is the supreme and ultimate reality.
He can't be the ultimate reality, he must've been designed. And so begins the infinate regression.
This is your problem, you can't be consistent about your own design inference, it must therefore be rejected.

Re: ID in Rhythm
mike the wiz,
I refer to him being religious, because his dogma is that God doesn't exist.
He is on record as saying he would change his mind if quality evidence became available, ergo he isn't a fundamentalist, as you say, that positively asserts that no god(s) exist.
