There has been 110 active topics, 12/16/02 on.
There are 27,805 total messages, NOT including the damaged topics.
The database is not set up to break down the message totals.
Members having started 20 or more topics (also with the total active topics 7/1 on, 10/1 on, and 12/1 on).
Andya Primanda - 29, 26, 12, 2.
Brad McFall - 24, 15, 9, 3.
lbhandli - 27, 2, 1, 1.

For 12/1/02 on, funkmasterfreaky had the most active topics, at 8.
221 different ID's have started topics. There has been 3 known instances of the same person posting topics under two different ID's.
I will try to get the database posted, possibly with various sortings, but it's going to be a while before that is ready.

I have posted a summary of all topics, sorted by date of origin, at:
{EDIT: URL DELETED - REPLACED BY LATER VERSIONS - SEE MESSAGE 8}
Another listing, sorted by person starting topic, will be coming later - It takes some time though - I have to do a fair bit of processing to get it from database form, to HTML form.

Part of my reasons for compiling the above cited database, is to have a source of information for culling topics from the forums. This is to reduce server storage requirements. As I see it, any deleted topics will be archived offline, by myself and Admin (I presume), and by anyone else who cares to.
My current thoughts are, is to post listings of topics I propose to archive offline and then delete. This will give members the chance to raise any objections (best done by giving the topic a "bump".), or to make their own copies of the topics. A new "Announcements" topic will be started for these listings.
Right now, my plans are to start with the older "Announcements" and "Suggestions" topics. I think Admin (aka Percy) might wish to form some sort of "forum history" page from this information.
There are a lot of good topics buried in the list. I suggest that members mine the list, for old topics deserving reactivation.
Once again, I will be giving ample warning, before I delete any topics. Also once again, any deleted topics will have been archived off line, such that a restorations should be possible.

OK, I've got the topics database current, in two different sortings.
All the topics, sorted by date started, can be found at:
http://www.lakenet.com/~mnmoose/started.htm
All the topics, sorted by originator, then date started, can be found at:
http://www.lakenet.com/~mnmoose/originat.htm
Each file runs 758610 bytes.
Note added on 1/31/03 - My personal website space is small and currently very full, so those pages listed just above are going to be deleted - AM
So check out the history of topics origin at .
Check out what topics you, and/or others have started.
Dig into those old topics, and maybe bring one back to life.

I have noted that there has already been 44 new topics started in January of 2003. There has been 20 new topics in the last 7 days. There has been 9 new topics in just the last 2 days (1/16-17).
I suggest that all parties consider restraint in starting new topics. Is there a relevent existing topic?
I have e-mailed "Admin", proposing a new topic freeze.
I am in the process of trying to thin out the older "dead wood" etc. topics, to reduce server storage space requirements. I am looking at starting with the older "Announcements" and "Suggestions" (and also those started by minnemooseus ).
Direct comments to me are welcome. My e-mail address is below.

Moose: Rather than putting the freeze on "new" topics (which would tend to stifle debate, IMO), have you considered archiving any topic to which no new posts have been made in some arbitrary time (say, six months)? Brad, for example, is notorious for digging through long-abandoned topics and bumping them active again - to no purpose, really. In addition, a freeze or closure of the "open" fora might be one additional way of helping cut down on the number of extraneous posts. I would imagine there's a way to sort threads by date, so it shouldn't be too onerous. Just a thought.

I have posted a graph of topic and message sums, at http://www.lakenet.com/~mnmoose/counts.gif
It is for since I started tracking, on 12/29/02, through 10:09 am of 1/31/03.
As with the previous tallies, messages from a number of damaged topics are not included. Those topics are included in the topic totals. Also still included in the totals, are 7 topics which have been deleted (these were all topics with few messages, often redundant topics, whose deletions were requested by the topic starters).
In all, there has been 2767 new messages since the first tally. That number is 9.05 percent of the total messages sum in the database (ie "from the beginning").
The highest new message rate was for the period ending 1/30/03, at 1:44 pm. There were 129 new messages in 18 hours 38 minutes. That is a rate of 162 messages per 24 hours.
The average number of messages per day, since 12/29, is currently at 84.08 per 24 hours.
Adminnemooseus
Graph current to 1/31/03.
From mid-day 1/27 to mid-day 2/1/03, new messages average 127 per day.

Some statistics
This forum was started in 12/00.
I started keeping a forum database on 12/29/02.
Since then (as of noonish 6/12/03) there has been 14,507 new messages.
There is a total of 42,312 messages in 1364 topics.
34.29% of all messages have been since 12/29/02.
Overall, since 12/29, there has been 87.91 messages per day.
This breaks down as follows:
12/29/02 - 1/26/03 - 78.65 messages/day
1/27/03 - 2/6/03 - 122.90 messages/day
2/7/03 - 4/20/03 - 78.49 messages/day
4/21/03 - 5/28/03 - 111.45 messages/day
5/29/03 - 6/12/03 - 69.57 messages/day
12/29/02 - 6/12/03 - 87.91 messages/day
There currently has been a bit of a lull, but the most recent 24 hour figure was 111 new messages.
Cheers,
Adminnemooseus

Graph updated to include thru todays data.
Note: 196 messages posted 12:32pm 6/12/2003 to 12:29pm 6/13/2003. A site record, or at least close to one.
For a simular period, 12/13-14/03, there were 47 new messages - Weekends are usually slower.
