The server decided to crash while I'm on vacation. When it was rebooted it came up with the date set to April 2, 2003. I had reported this problem of booting up with the incorrect date to our webhosting company twice before, but they still had not fixed it. When the date is wrong the website does not work, which some of you have noticed in the form of disappearing threads.
The website went down around 9:30 Tuesday night, about an hour after I checked it. I had planned to check it each evening, and so when I checked it Wednesday night it had already been down for nearly a full day.
Because I'm on the road and not at home I do not have the resources normally available to me, and I could not set the date myself. I requested our webhosting company to set the date for me, and it only took 6 phone calls and 5 hours to accomplish this simple task.
So we're finally back! I'll continue to check in every evening.
