Re: Staying the Course
Hi Percy,
I just want to throw my two cents worth in which is probably valued at zero.
In my house I make the rules.
This is your house you should make the rules.
Post them for us to go by.
Put the guys in the striped suits to enforce your rules.
They call the fowl play and administer the penalty.
You can review the play call and make your judgment.
If you think the mod was over stepping your rules you could make corrections.
If the mod was too lenient you could increase the penalty.
The mods should have a way of reporting to you that is not visible on the site.
If I have a complaint I should have a way to communicate that complaint without anyone knowing what it is.
That seems to work pretty well for the NFL.
Percy I do not envy you your job of trying to bring order to your house. From everything I read it is going to be a monumental job.
I will also praise you for not doing what I would have done in the case of some of those that are questioning your decision.
Stay the course.

"John 5:39 (KJS) Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me."

Re: Brief Answers
Hi Nem,
Nemesis Juggernaut writes:
Then why am I still here? [
Probably because you logged in.
And found out you had not been banned.
All joking aside WE were getting pretty carried away.
sidelied and myself got so far off topic in one thread there was no way we could have got back to the topic. AdminPD issued us a warning but it had come about 3 pages of posts too late. We did not post after the warning. But we had been allowed to go to long. We were then suspended for a period of time. Neither of us complained. Why did we not complain? Because we were guilty.
We were having a good discussion, my education was increasing but we were doing it in the wrong place.
Nem what I am saying is that we had all began to take things for granted and being in the position I am in, I can feel for Percy. He wanted us to have a good time and learn, and we took advantage of him. Percy let us go too far and the drastic action he took was necessary. Then everybody questioned his authority, just be glad I was not in his position. I think he was very lenient.
For EvC to survive and reach Percy's goals he has to decide where he wants it to go. He made the decision things had to change. Many disagreed with him. But somebody has to make the decisions. I ran a business for some 40 years sometimes you have to make decisions that maybe you don't even like but you have no choice. I feel Percy was in that position and I can feel his pain. But I can't help him as it must be his decision.
What can we do to help now that we find ourselves and EvC in the position we are in?
I think the first thing we need to do is shut up.
Let Percy decide where he wants his forum to go and the best way to achieve that goal.
Many of us have given him our ideas. That is great.
But now it is time for us to get back in the different topics and do what we joined this site to do.
Argue with one another about what we believe to be the truth.
Having butted heads with Percy in several different topics I believe Percy will get it right if we will let him.
Lets get out there and have fun, life is too short for anything else.

Re-Uproar
Everybody,
Enough is Enough.
If I was Percy I would pull the plug and go fishing.
You are a bunch of the most ungrateful people I have ever seen in my entire 68 years of life.
Percy has provided us a place to air our views free of charge.
I have enjoyed being able to be a part of EvC.
I know to most I have some very off beat views about everything.
This is the only place I have ever found that I can really express them and get somebody to make me question them and for that I am forever grateful.
Now for EvC's sake shut up and let Percy do his job.
Just so you know if I was in his position and I saw one more negative remark of any kind concerning the decisions that have been made I would shut this site down so fast your computers might crash because of it.
End of rant.

Re: Re-Uproar
Hi Buzz,
Buzzsaw2. I'm glad Admin has more patience than you're advocating. Two of the biggies for Christians is longsuffering and patience.
You don't think Percy has been long-suffering putting up with where we carried his baby in the last couple of months?
He didn't want to interfere, but it reached a point he had to do something or shut it down. He did what he thought was best.
Buzz you run a business. You have to make some hard decisions sometimes. Put yourself in Percy's position. Somebody has to be the final authority.
Whether I agree with Percy or not is not the question. The decision has been made. We have contributed our ideas on what we would like to see going forward. Percy has to sort some things out and make some long term decisions.
How can he concentrate on making a proper decision, when he is continually being bombarded with members disgust with what he has done. Percy can not change what has been done. He can modify it, but he can not change it.
But any modification has to be his decision.
Have fun,
Have fun,

that doesn't mean that we must all blindly agree with every action the owner of the site does.
arach I ran a business for 40 years. Nobody told me in 40 years how to run my business. If it was an employee he was informed he was and employee and if he did not agree with the way I did things he could go elsewhere. The second time he told me how to run my business he was looking for a job.
No you do not have to agree with anything anyone does. But you don't go into a mans house and tell him how to run it. You do not tell another man how to run his business.
Some have made some good suggestions. That is fine.
Some have made demands on Percy. Demands is telling him how to run his business.
That is unacceptable behaviour period.
Many probably did not realize that what they were and are saying comes over as demands but go back and read them.
Nem demanded to be banned. All he had to do was delete the link on the desktop.

shutting down and out.
Buzz if you noticed my shutting down and out was if I read one more post telling me how to run my business I would pull the plug.
My idea is the decision has been made.
Lets support Percy instead of trying to tear him apart. I think he is in bad enough shape with his baby in the condition she is in at the moment. Without more salt being poured in the wound.
We have made our suggestions.
Percy needs time to formulate a plan for going forward from this day.
He has already made some and I am sure more are in the works.
How can that happen if the house is still burning down.
We need to:
Put the fire out.
Get back on the boards and give each other fits.

Do you own the library?
By subordinates I will assume you are talking about employees that get paid by the same people you do.
But what if someone off the street comes in and starts to tell you how to run the libarary?

Re-Final Remarks
Guys and Gals,
I think it is time to put this puppy to rest.
I have not taken sides I just think it is time to end it.
One of my most admired debaters is on the sideline I hate the thought of not being able to pick his brain for knowledge.
He is there by his own choice. I have to respect him for that.
Will I ask Percy to reinstate him no that is not my call it is his.
Should Nem leave no way unless Percy so desired.
Should any of those banned be reinstated?
Only if they can convince Percy they are worthy.
I would like to remind everyone this is not like a company, customer relationship here.
This is a man that is graciously providing us with a soap box to preach our beliefs from. There are no customers we are all guests.
I am done I will not answer any replies or post in this thread again.
See you in the debate threads.
