Wow, it's spam!
wow.It's amazing!

Proper post format
Mr dennis780 refuses to format his posts properly. He has been shown how on numerous occasions, by numerous other posters (myself included), yet still does not. I know it's petty, but damn is it annoying.
{ABE}
Examples: Message 260, Message 359, Message 63, just to name a few.

Dodging competition?
Mr. Big_Al35 has been dodging and weaving in the "Unintelligent design" thread, and has refused to name even a single source from where he gets his information.
Perhaps an admin could take a look at this?
It starts with Message 162. The thread is now about whether or not he will provide evidence for his claims rather than about the actual evidence.
Thanks

Re: Dodging competition?
General impressions from skimming the topic in question:
Big_Al35 is Big_Al35.
Wounded King is doing a pretty impressive job of interfacing with Big_Al35.
The thread is now about whether or not he will provide evidence for his claims rather than about the actual evidence.
Pretty much, the topic would have been much better off if the rest didn't post their messages.
If you don't have anything to post beyond griping that the other guy isn't posting anything of value, then you are not contributing to the topic.
Or something like that (note Percy/Admin quote in "signature").
The above is not intended to say that members should not post problem alerts to this topic. But post them in this topic, rather than bitching at the topic in question.
Or something like that.
Replies to this message welcome, but please make them good.
Or something like that.

It really helps moderators figure out if a topic is disintegrating because of general misbehavior versus someone in particular if the originally non-misbehaving members kept it that way. When everyone is prickly and argumentative and off-topic and personal then it's just too difficult to tell. We have neither infinite time to untie the Gordian knot, nor the wisdom of Solomon.
There used to be a comedian who presented his ideas for a better world, and one of them was to arm everyone on the highway with little rubber dart guns. Every time you see a driver doing something stupid, you fire a little dart at his car. When a state trooper sees someone driving down the highway with a bunch of darts all over his car he pulls him over for being an idiot.
Please make it easy to tell you apart from the idiots. Message 150

Need a lasso for Buz
Can we wrangle Buz back on topic in Is personal faith a debatable topic? (not that I think he has any intention of even remotely addressing the topic) starting with Message 36. He has done nothing but address his "thesis premise" about a flood.
Buz, you have a thread for your failed hypothesis, in which you have yet to provide a shred of evidence. Don't go around hi-jacking other peoples threads, cluttering them with stupid. If this is not an administrative issue, can we at least stop feeding the troll?

*Slaps Rrhain around the face with a glove*
Skip to the short version (it's probably worth it)
The Gender and Humour thread, with all of its infinitely long posts is potentially becoming an issue. Hopefully Rrhain will begin to act civilly of his own accord. It is an unfair task to ask moderators to wade through Rrhain's epic posts so I'll provide the quotes of concern so they can be searched for for further context as desired. In Message 198
Rrhain writes:
nd given your own personal history regarding the treatment of gay people on this board (*Dan Carroll*cough!*cough!*), you're not exactly helping. You, too, seem to want there to be no consequences....
...
We've been down this road before, Modulous. Did you learn nothing from the mass bannings of 2007?
Now I'm sure Percy needs no reminding of what Rrhain is referring to. The attempt to goad me was brushed aside in Message 200
Mod writes:
You responded on a defensive rant against onifre's homophobia...You even tried to throw a little defensive shit my way referencing an argument we had years ago.
But Rrhain decided to continue pushing in Message 218
Rrhain writes:
I'm the one pointing out that once again, you have decided to circle the wagons when faced with criticism of your abilities as a moderator rather than engage and explain yourself. You still haven't learned your lesson. The board collapsed because your incompetence. You, specifically. And now you're throwing another hissy fit.
I admit, I nibbled the bait a little in Message 222
Mod writes:
LOL. Temporarily suspending a member that was using personal insults directly lead to the collapse of this forum? Or was it when I expressed my opinion that I disagreed with the opinions of a group of other members that caused the metaphorical sky to fall?
But I tried to direct Rrhain elsewhere so as not to cause disruption to the thread. It is my view that Percy doesn't want a thread about the differences in humour in the sexes to become a flamewar about how unfair a moderator I was 3 years ago in a discussion about morality.
But if you want to talk about that in any great detail - it's probably best in Private Messages or maybe a Great Debate thread if you want it public.
Rrhain did not take that course of action, and continued to push. This time, not a small reference but a wall of about 1,000 words dedicated to the topic. A post in itself for most posters here in Message 224
Rrhain writes:
Oh, the condescending attitude, the false humility that you are simply trying to be "reasonable," this was exactly the way you behaved the last time we got into it. Now, I'll retract my comment of "moderator" and just leave it as "criticism of your abilities."
You really think that was the problem? Your attention span really is that short, isn't it? N_j insulted gays and berberry called him out on it...and got banned for it. Dan Carroll pointed out that it was wrong to ban berberry...and got banned for it. I pointed out that it was wrong to ban Dan...and got banned for it.
And so on ad nauseam.
I have again requested Rrhain take it elsewhere, hopefully he's got it off his chest now.
Apologies for the he-says, she-says, I know how dull it is to read so thanks for doing so.
So I am not requesting a moderator suspend Rrhain unless Rrhain continues to disrupt that thread with that argument. I am requesting a moderator issue Rrhain with a polite warning, directing him to this post.

The short version

Rrhain wants to argue with me about something that I think might be a problem to do in the thread in question. It's getting a bit personal. Please can a moderator refer Rrhain over here and ask him nicely to desist (if they agree with my assessment) ?
Here is my suggestion:
Rrhain, you challenged me in 2007. You said in Message 191
Rrhain writes:
You are the one that needs the timeout.
Make it voluntary if you have to. Simply don't respond to anything on this thread and see if anybody continues it. If it truly is an issue of us "lashing out" or "repetitively bitching and whining," then we'll keep it up even in your absence.
This I did. And now you bring it back up again. So clearly you feel there are unresolved issues that need addressing. Personally I am happy to let the affair rest - but if you insist that I have to face the music on this issue I am prepared for the onslaught.
You never did answer my direct questions to you. I know...by asking them directly and succinctly, that is a guarantee that they will never get answered.
You want answers? A Great Debate, Free For All format. No rules other than who gets to participate. You may have your satisfaction, sir!

I hear the thundering hoofbeats approaching
Starting with Message 318 in the That boat don't float, member Jzyehoshua has started a Gish Gallop Galore. As a new member, he may not know that forum protocal calls for him to be wrong only about one topic per thread. There are plenty of opportunities to be wrong about other things in other threads.
Perhaps a gentle reminder from a moderator that he needs to stick on-topic would be more kindly worded than a reminder coming from me.

I have no time for lies and fantasy, and neither should you. Enjoy or die.

Yup, his account has been compromised. I did have a blast writing a response in his announcement thread and giving him a 1, though. Can't wait to see how this plays out.

Yeah, that's because of Adminnemooseus'hacked account. I suspect Percy will fix it soon.
