Bug Reporting II

I tried posting to the thread The Unacknowledged Accuracy of Genesis. It appeared that it got hung up, so I stopped it. I checked the All Topics page to see whether my message had posted, and it hadn't, so I tried to post it again. Still got hung up.Funny thing is, after closing my browser and starting it again, the All Topics Page still lists that thread as just containing the OP and jar's promotion announcement, but my personal topic page shows that I did post my message twice, and they are there when I visit the thread.I have tried to edit one of the duplicated messages to remove the duplicated content, but the bowser hangs up and won't push the edits through. I tried editing both using Firefox and Konqueror.Edited to add:PS, new messages in other threads are showing in the All Topics display. It just seems curious that all my problems are with just that one thread. Everything else is working normally.

As long as it's just confined to the one thread, I can live with it.Hey, the All Topics Page is now picking up the additional messages in that thread. I'll go see whether I can edit out the repeated material.

Heh. Old problem just resurfaced. I posted a message on that thread again. Browser is hung up, but it seems to just be having trouble loading the page with the message on it. The message itself is posted. I've opened a new window, and I can go to the thread and read the message I just posted. But the All Topics page is not indicating that my message is there (and the thread isn't bumped).

This is interesting. On my Topic Index page, "Election 2006" is listed twice. One listing has post #9 listed as the last post I wrote on that thread, and shows that there is a reply to it (which is true; berberry has replied). The second listing has post #10 as my last post on that thread (which is true at this moment) and shows that no one has replied (which is also true).Edited to add:Perhaps relevant, berberry posted his reply to my post #9 at almost the same time as I posted #10.Edited again to add:I meant to say that berberry posted his reply to my post #9 at almost the same time I posted an correction to that post.Edited by Chiroptera, : No reason given.Edited by Chiroptera, : No reason given.

Here is a screen shot of what I get when I click on "All Topics". Note that the page loaded at 12:44 pm (I am not logged in, so this is local board time). Yet note that the "Iraq needed Saddam?" thread does not list the latest message by berberry, nor does the "Statistics 101" thread list the latest post by crashfrog. (Despite that the image seems to be a "broken link", clicking on it does bring up the image that is hosted on imageshack: Thanks to ImageShack for Free Image Hosting!)Added by edit:Add the following threads to the list of the ones not updating:

Update as of 4:38 pm board default time. Some threads have partially updated on All Topics:

• Statistics 101 shows the latest message as being #123 by riVeRraT (but not #124),
• Clarifying The Buzsaw Position shows the latest message to be #7 by Admin (but not #8 or #9),
• and Iraq needed Saddam? the latest message is #15 by CK (and correct so far).

This is a new one.My recent post seems to exist on that thread, and it is listed on my profile page, but when I look at All Topics, it lists the most recent post on that thread as Quetzal's previous post.

Ha ha ha. There are a lot of HTML tags in that blurb that is being cut'n'pasted. People are cut'n'pasting too quickly and leaving off one or more of the closing tags.That's my guess.

Sometimes it does take a long time for a page to load, and this can occur (for me) in any situation. However, there are a couple of situations where it becomes more likely for a long-load time:When I post a message. By logging in on another window, I can see that my message has been posted, but it takes a long while for the page to load on the original window.When I edit a message. This almost guarantees a long load time. Except, by logging on another window, I can see that it's actually taking a long time to post the changes, not loading the message window itself.I don't know whether this helps.

I notice that now when I log out, my name isn't removed from the list of members logged in. At least not on my screen.I'm logging out now.

It seems that my name was timed out by the time you did the check; my name did remain on the list when I checked immediately after logging out. Or maybe it was just a problem when I was looking at it.Anyway, it seems fixed now. When I log out, my name is now immediately removed from the "online now" list.
