Anyway, regarding the 2q, 2p, 2a, and 2b confusion, that's what happens when you put too much into the names.
I remember one time in physics a student came to the TA office for help. Long story short, he couldn't understand why in one of the homework problems the text told him to use one equation but his professor told him to use another. We (the TAs) took a look at it and we couldn't understand what the confusion was. They were the same equation! They used different letters but the format was exactly the same.
It's always better to know what the heck those names stood for rather than put too much faith in the names themselves. Afterall, you're not going to stand there and argue to somebody for calling someone you know "William" even though you know him as "Wil".
