The case Coyote was talking about is a skeleton found that is 10,300 years old. The case you are talking about is when the mtDNA first originated 16,000 years ago. So it doesn't matter for Coyote's case, as your own example says it was already present when Coyote's skeleton lived and died. Coyote's age is
not the age of the orginating of the mtDNA, it is a case
after it originated.
