Re: Perdition and Theodoric
Thanks! I just threw it together here at work.
As for the forum itself, I'm going to have to wait until I'm at home (I start working from home on Thursday, so that should give me a lot better access and time to do anything I need to) before I can start uploading pictures and things.
Until then, any suggestions on color schemes and forum names, please let me know.

Re: To Perdition and Theodoric
Hi Perdition, just a few items.
I've fixed the non-display of the most recent thread in forum lists.
Since you have FF available, I'm not going to fix the IE 6.0 problem tonight, but will soon.
I'm not sure you were aware, but registrations are currently disabled at PM. Things seem to be working fine now, so you can enable them as soon as you feel you're ready.

A couple suggestions
If you and Theodoric create your own director level accounts, then it might be a good idea to leave the Admin1 account around for me to use, just to make it easy in case something comes up where that would be convenient.
About the title graphic, can you make it into a .png with the white background transparent? Would probably look much better that way.

Re: A couple suggestions
I can play around with the graphic at home...at worst, I can put the white part at the same color as the background of the page...I'll see once I actually start uploading things.
As for opening it up for registration, I'll do that this weekend, and I'll be open for suggestions from anyone who wants to try it.
How do I update the first page? Right now it just says "Coming Soon" and a link to the actual board.

Politicus Maximus Open
Hear ye, hear ye! Politicus Maximus, the internet's best politics discussion board based on dBoard software is now open! Please excuse our dust and mess as we complete the finishing touches.
Please, offer any criticisms and suggestions in the appropriate thread. As of right now, topics can be started anywhere, but if I think they're in the wrong forum, I may move them. Please try to put them in the appropriate spots, however.
The color scheme is grayish, mostly because I couldn't come up with something that looked good without essentially copying EvC and the excellent scheme set up here.
Again, all suggestions are welcome, and rememebr, have a good time!

Re: Politicus Maximus Open
The little arrows on the context line (e.g.: PoliticusMaximus => Forums) are the same color as the background, so they're invisible. The arrow image isn't currently settable through the control panel (I've just put this on my todo list), but for now you can just edit it and change the color.
Did you mean to not have a space in the board name "PoliticusMaximus"?
About editing the home page, there are two ways, both mentioned in the email. One is to login to the server using ssh and then use your favorite editor to modify it. Emacs and vi are available there.
The other approach is to access the server using the website control panel (not the discussion board control panel) and then using it's file manager. Unless you already know Linux, this way is easier.
Edited by Admin, : Add clarification.

Thanks, I've changed the color a bit so they are visible.

Fixed as well.

Ok, I'll play around in there this weekend, probably.

Re: Politicus Maximus Open
By the way, forgot to mention that you can set up email addresses for the website, like admin@politicusmaximus. You do this through the website control panel. That control panel is worth visiting because it allows you to do so much. In addition to file management and email addresses you can add more website accounts, obtain website statistics, change the server settings, define subdomains (e.g., bookstore.politicusmaximus.net), and modify and add databases.

Re: Politicus Maximus Open
Cool, would I have to log into the website control panel to view any e-mails sent there?

You can do it that way, but most people prefer to have such email automatically downloaded into the mailtool of their choice. I use Outlook, but all such mailtools work this way, and I think even the popular browser email tools like Yahoo and Gmail can do this.

Hide and show settings in the control panel now works with IE 6.0.

Just one brief comment on my first encounter with the board:
The password will be email'd
What a horrible insult to the English language. What's wrong with 'emailed'?

That's my fault. I used to feel the same way about just "email", since it seemed at the time that all marketing departments we're just tacking "e" on front of everything. Anyway, if "email'd" is really a significant butcherment I can change it. Anyone else have opinions?

Re: A couple suggestions
I'm trying to get the homepage changed, and I see the index.html file...do I have to make a webpage first and upload it as index.html or is there a way to change it directly in the Plesk Panel?
