Pedestrians are struck by cars in Northampton’s downtown area on occasion, but it’s not often one of those pedestrians has the same name as the son of God, according to the Northampton Police.
I’ve been here 24 years, and that is a first, said Northampton Police Captain Scott Savino.
Police responded at around 3:40 p.m. on Tuesday to investigate an incident where a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle while he was in a Main Street crosswalk, Savino said. The man was hurt, but conscious, and handed police his identification, Savino said.
He was identified from a Massachusetts ID card, so that is his legal name, Savino added. The card listed his name as Lord Jesus Christ, Savino said.
The 50-year-old Belchertown resident was transported to Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton with non-life threatening injuries to his face, mouth and legs, Savino said.
The driver, Brittany Cantarella, 20, of Pittsfield was issued a citation for a crosswalk violation, Savino said. Cantarella was driving a 2005 Chevrolet sedan.
The hospital said no one named Christ was a patient there today. Efforts to find a home phone number for Christ were unscuccessful.

Now, I was convinced that this was the real deal. I was just about to send a reply giving him all my info so I could soon receive 5 million big ones. But then I had an attack of the guilty conscience. After all, I'm doing just fine and there are so many people suffering from the Iraq war. So, I decided to reply back with the following message.

So, apparently giving him his mother's name and the phone and address of his organization didn't deter him. I just got the following email. Obviously, it's a very complex plan. What should I write back now?

That's the point. The plan isn't really a plan. It's just written to make it sound really complex to confuse the victim. If the victim is dumb enough to fall for it, then chances are the victim will be too embarrassed to say "I don't understand the plan".
