Re: USA should be 3-2
But I think you'll still go through, providing England don't make any more fuck ups.
Strange isn't it? The best chance for the U.S. to qualify for the elimination round is if England wins out, and the U.S. beats Algeria.
I still can't believe what I have just seen: What a game!
God save the queen.

Re: USA should be 3-2
How so? If England wins that gives them 4 points at the top of the group with Slovenia then USA third. An England tie puts Slovenia at 4 with England, USA second at 2 each. Where is the advantage in an England win?
I was rooting for England to win out, maybe my bias betraying me. If England had won, Algeria would be out, and England at the top of Group C. England plays Slovenia next and with a win, and a U.S. win against Algeria, both England, first, and the U.S. second, make it to the elimination round.
I see now that after this tie, the US is in a position of win and in, regardless of the other game. This seems the more favorable position for the US. I must have overlooked this earlier.

Italy -1 New Zealand -1
Wow, few things are more frustrating than being a fan of Italian World Cup Soccer. Take your hats off to New Zealand, though; Predicted to lie down against the defending champs, they played admirably.
And to think that Italy only scored on a questionable call in the box that resulted in a penalty kick...

Re: Italy -1 New Zealand -1
*Very* dubious reason for the penalty, but then the NZ goal was equally dubious (although excellent) for its own reasons
Blasphemy. And you're right, Cameroon should be proud, considering nearly all of the African teams, with the exception of Ghana, have been lackluster.

Re: Afrika
Ivory Coast have been quite good - they're the ones I really pity for the North Korea result. It's going to take a miracle for them to bear Portugal on goal difference.
Drogba and company are very likely going home. An unfortunate draw placed them in "The Group of Death", and Drogba's injury (broken arm) didn't help matters. The pity is mutual, I suppose.

Oh, Ghana
But fuck did that Ghana player miss one monumental penalty kick.
It was Gyan. My goodness, my heart broke seeing him in tears.
