officially endorsing NO religion is safer than endorsing a pagan religion.
But the Air Force is not "endorsing a pagan religion". They are providing these particular religions with places of worship. This thing called....freedom. Maybe you've heard of it?

Why, then, does the Constitution not specifically mention chrstianity? If the point was for you to be free to worship jeebus however you want, why didn't they put that in there? Why be ambiguous?
