A few blocks away from the World Trade Center is Masjid Manhattan. It's right near one of my favorite "must stop by spots " in Manhattan, the Fountain Pen Hospital and it's been there (may have moved a couple doors down the street I think) at least since the 70s. It's a tiny place and can't hold all the congregation so often the people end up out on the street and sidewalks. Honestly, I don't understand why people are getting upset. Terrorist Christians are terrorists (rightly or wrongly) because of their Christian beliefs. Neither has anything to do with the fact that in the US, Freedom of Religion is assured under our Constitution.

Of course terrorist Christians have killed millions, likely billions. But the point is, as I said, that still has NOTHING to do with the topic.

Again, I don't really see the distinction. Both behaviors were destructive and if you weighed the two, I'd tend to think that the greater harm was all the kids molested. BUT, my point is that bringing up 9-11 or Priest Pedophiles is simply playing to the mass hysteria audience. The fact is that in the US, Freedom of Religion is a basic Right, and it is the rights of the very religions that we might most dislike that we should work the hardest to protect.

Those two things just don't seem to be comparable. The purpose of the mosque (and it is only incidentally a mosque) is for their use and worship. The sign seems to be solely to aggravate them.

Certainly freedom is freedom, and in the US someone would have the right to put up such a poster. I'd still consider that person to be an asshole though.

The Constitution. If they can find a company willing to rent space to assholes than where is the problem? Of course, companies don't have to rent space to assholes.

Nonsense. It is no the government that stops tv from broadcasting images of the Prophet, it is corporate timidity. If there is any hypocrisy it is not because there is any governmental restriction on freedom of speech.

But no one has stopped the folk that are offended from speaking out. Where is the issue? The Muslims have a Constitutional Right to build the mosque.
