I wonder how far away from Ground Zero a new mosque would have to be to be "acceptable". Brooklyn? New Jersey?
My guess is that any new mosque in Colorado or Florida will have at least one idiot making the same complaint that it's an insult to 9-11 victims.

Anybody can recognize an act of war when they see one.

Firefighters might not be pledged to protect our rights and freedoms but police are. Did you forget the police?

My point is that freedom is freedom, religious and speech.
You should be free to call your grandmother a fat, ugly old whore, but you should choose not to do it.

Why doesn't that apply equally for the people wanting to build the mosque? Shouldn't they choose not to do it?
It's about personal motivation. If their motivation is to build bridges between Muslims and the rest of society, they should choose to build the mosque. If their motive is to be offensive, they should choose not to. Similarly, if your poster is motivated by a desire to improve relations with Muslims, you should put it up. If your motivation is to thumb your nose at Muslims, you should choose not to.

I agree, but shouldn't the Constitution protect us both?
There are some who find the mosque offensive. There are some who find the image of the prophet offensive. But it seems like in the US the muslims and their feels are considered before the feelings of others for fear of, well, another ground zero somewhere else.
As far as I know, that's self-censorship and has nothing to do with the Constitution.
