I would go with the silver myself. That is the best defense against lycanthropes and vampires.
I again bought a few gold coins the other day. For my retirement. Currencies fluctuate. The value of gold has been going up and up and up and up regardless of currency fluctuations.
I don't keep those coins in banks, though.
For the people who want to rob me; they're also not in any of my residences, either.
