I would say that those debates have the most value. No offense intended to the smart people but if you just want information about science, there are probably better places to get it. The value of this site is in pointing out the idiocy of young-earthism and its ilk.

I can read science papers all day long, but having the opportunity to discuss astrophysics directly with someone like cavediver is way more valuable and informative than just reading a paper.Its the back and forth, and the direct responses to my questions, that I can't get from a paper.

Every time that I talk with God, it is usually a prayer---at least in my mind. I am not always so formal and, at times, I have even ranted at God...but I know to respect Him. God could care less whether someone is a liberal or a conservative. God knows the sins and character flaws of all of our hearts.His ways are not our ways.

Granted, but the teacher is not expected to replace the textbook. And both are better sources of information than a playground argument. The reason we have the playground arguments here is because we can't get the creationists into the classroom at all.

Any time you attribute to God an opinion that is consistent with His own word you are speaking for Him and anyone who knows His word can speak for Him. What do you think preachers do? They speak for God, they speak God's word. Prophecy is the word for speaking forth God's word. to call that blasphemy is terrific ignorance, even a form of blasphemy in itself. What I said is based on what I know from His word. He hates PC, it's the devil's own invention.
