Hey Taq,
There was another alternative than VETOing the UN resolution:
Abstain.
But that would hint at Obama being a liberal. Which he isn't.

Re: Still an infected monkey driver . . .
Surely you have read my posts. I think my record here on the forum has been consistently "peace-nik-istic."
I prefer no one be slaughtered. (Except for war criminals and human rights violators)
You are forgetting that many of Israel's neighbors have sworn to slaughter the Jews, and "push them into the sea."
You can be "peace-nik-istic" but try also to be "real-istic."

This would also be seen as weakness and an anti-Israeli action by the electorate and would be one of the top 3 talking points for any Republican candidate.
But that would hint at Obama being a liberal. Which he isn't.
I've always thought of Obama as being a pragmatic liberal that moderates his stances for political reasons (i.e. with the 2012 elections in mind). One of the oddities of American politics is that a second term president is a lame duck president the very first day of the term.

I think you are referring to the Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. He explained that while he strongly opposes the state/government of Israel, his hostility does not extend to the Israeli people: We are opposed to the idea that the people who live there should be thrown into the sea or be burnt, he said. We believe that all the people who live there, the Jews, Muslims and Christians, should take part in a free referendum and choose their government.
I'm NOT supporting Ahmadinejad, and I am NOT saying Ahmadinejad isn't a nut job, . . . I am just clarifying his quote "push them into the sea" was referring to the Israel government.
Coyote writes:
"many of Israel's neighbors have sworn to slaughter the Jews..."
"many"? Evidence please. I don't doubt there are some individuals, but you'll have to quantify "many".
Violence, repression, torture, and murder is/has been tried before. It doesn't seem to be a "real-istic" long-term solution. Given a choice, I think the vast overwhelming percentage of people in the world would choose to live in peace.
Edited by dronester, : added "individuals"

Bullshit. Sorry but that is simply not true.
Egypt, Jordan Lebanon and Syria have all recognized Israel's right to nationhood and secure borders.
Which neighbor were you thinking of?
The Palestinian Authority has even recognized Israel.

If it is anything like your other posts I think it would be a waste of time.

Re: Still an infected monkey driver . . .
The "push them into the sea" was not a recent quote from Iran.
It is an older quote going back at least to 1957, and Abdul Nasser. He also said, in 1967, "We are going to grind them into the ground. We are going to push them into the sea. We're going to wipe out Israel--no one will ever remember them again."
This was shortly before the Arab countries launched a war on Israel.

Re: Still an infected monkey driver . . .
The Palestinian Authority has even recognized Israel.
From Wiki:
Palestinian legislative elections took place on 25 January 2006. Hamas was victorious and Ismail Haniyeh was nominated as Prime Minister on 16 February 2006 and sworn in on 29 March 2006. However, when a Hamas-led government was formed, Israel, the United States, Canada, and the European Union froze all funds to the Palestinian Authority, after Hamas refused to recognize Israel, renounce violence, and agree to past agreements. These countries view Hamas as a terrorist organization.
In December 2006, Ismail Haniyeh, Prime Minister of the PA, declared that the PA will never recognize Israel: "We will never recognize the usurper Zionist government and will continue our jihad-like movement until the liberation of Jerusalem."

Yawn.
Jerusalem is an issue. It is unrelated to Israel. Israel is STILL actually occupying Palestinian territory and showing NO signs of stopping their aggression.
If Israel continues to operate as a terrorist nation and continues to invade other nations, to arrest and detain other nationals even when not in Israel, can you expect any other outcome than violence.

Sure.
Don't get me wrong, both sides have been acting like petulant children. But Hamas doesn't have the IDF, the planes, the tanks, the sophisticated rockets, the bull dozers. Hamas is not occupying Israeli territory.

1967?
Do the Amalekites, Hittites, and Assyrians also keep you up at night in cold sweats?
