Re: Palin is an idiot, but....
I happen to agree with it within its proper context, and apparently so did the Founding Fathers.
The Founding Fathers saw guns as the remedy for tyranny. Sharron Angle sees them as the remedy for democracy.

...and I still won;t advocate shooting such an immoral asshole, because the very notion of murdering someone because they disagree with you is counter to the entire spirit of the Freedom of Speech, even aside from the fact that you shouldn't advocate killing people in general, because killing people is pretty high up on the "wrong" scale.
And your opinion on all the death threads Palin is now getting because of the lefties and their lies?

When lefties show up to Palin rallies packing heat in order to intimidate Palin and her followers let us know.

I imagine they are as fabricated as most of her facts.

Anyone so limited that they can only spell a word one way is severely handicapped!

He shot a member of Congress... of course it was a political motivation
Brinkley was not politically motivated when he shot Reagan. Brinkley was motivated by his infatuation with Jodie Foster. He thought shooting Reagan would endear her to him.
I was more or less hedging my bet in case Loughner turns out to be completely psychotic.
I've been surfing the webs about this Loughner guy... looked at his youtube channel, saw some of his vids, his myspace is down. Watch some news vids on him, his ex-girlfriends, etc. Psychiatrists speculating that he's schitzo.
It looks to me like he is nuts and also had political motivation.
He bitched about currency, and language, and... ding ding ding - - - mind control
Looks like he lost his mind during the same time he became more interested in politics.
I doubt Palin's "Crosshair" map had anything to do with this guy and his motivations at all.

I am more curious about how he was affected by the overtly violent rhetoric that the Tea Party was putting out. Perhaps he wasn't affected at all, I don't know. However, it is still irresponsible to push a political agenda with threats of violence. Hopefully, this is a wake up call for the Tea Party.

Assuming she's actually receiving death threats, what do you think my position would be on that, given everything else I've stated in this and other threads?
I hate Palin. I think she's actively harmful to the nation as a whole, and I despise damned near everything she stands for, as a symbol of anti-intellectualism and just plain stupidity.
But not for a moment do I think anyone should ever inflict violence upon her. No guns, no fists, nothing. Attack her with words and intellect, in the political arena to work against her asinine political goals. Anyone who says "Palin should be shot" or any derivation thereof is acting unethically.
...because of the lefties and their lies?
I'm curious as to what lies, specifically, you're referring to, and who's made them. Personally, I find the left/right dichotomy to be rather stupid, as most political positions don't really have such binary distinctions. With the exception of certain politicians and the talking heads on TV/radio, most people aren't so easily classified as "leftist" or "rightist." Regardless, I'd like to know for curiosity's sake what comments regarding Palin you believe are lies, who made those comments, and how it related to her allegedly receiving death threats.

Why are we all assuming that he was right-wing and listened to the Tea Party?

Right, and he thought that because Jodie Foster went on TV and said someone should "shoot Reagan", because she disagreed with his politics. The Foster-Reagan connection didn't come out of nowhere, or even out of insanity.
I was more or less hedging my bet in case Loughner turns out to be completely psychotic.
Granted, but that doesn't absolve anybody. Indeed, the whole point of avoiding assassination rhetoric is to avoid inciting crazy people who may act out in earnest what you meant as a metaphor.

Why do you assume he would have had to be a right-winger Tea Partier to be influenced by right-wing assassination language? Honestly Jared Loughner's political beliefs seem to be utterly irrelevant; they have absolutely nothing to do with whether conservative assassination speech contributed to his decision to attempt to assassinate a member of congress.

How much does it influence your decisions?

For the same reasons that Palin assumed it, which is why she sterilized her tweets and websites. It's a rather obvious connection.

Media blew it (again)
Why are we all assuming that he was right-wing and listened to the Tea Party?
Because that's what the left-wing media, and others such as the idiot sheriff, started telling us within a couple of hours after the shootings.

Re: Media blew it (again)
I find it very hard to really imagine that anyone could take either the Tea Party or Palin seriously enough to move beyond making them the brunt of a late night show monologue joke. And even then only with an accompanying "sting" so folk know when to laugh.

Anyone so limited that they can only spell a word one way is severely handicapped!
