It's curious that both sides feel this way. Curious and very sad.

The left-right dichotomy doesn't work well for our current political climate; it is a (minimum) two axis problem and it can't be described accurately using only one axis.

Correct, Jerry Pournelle.

His Ph.D.s were in Political Science and Psychology so he has some experience in the area.
