Newt Gingrich. Noted for committing adultery while demanding that Bill Clinton should resign for ... what was it? Worshiping graven idols? Not keeping the Sabbath holy? Oh, I remember now, it was committing adultery.
That's how you draw attention from yourself when you're getting some strange -- you throw another dude under the bus.
Hey, don't hate the player hate the game.
Ron Paul. Engagingly crazy libertarian. Wants to repeal drug laws, abolish income tax, go back on the gold standard, have an isolationist foreign policy, and pretty much reduce the legitimate activities of the federal government to declaring war, which he wouldn't. A man of principles, most of them wrong, and completely unelectable by mainstream Republicans.
You had me at 'repeal drug laws'...
Noted for how fucking annoying his followers are.
You're an annoying follower!

Re: People Rick Santorum Doesn't Like
Liberals, gay people
There's a difference between those two?
Of course we look at the shape of mainline Protestantism in this country and it is in shambles, it is gone from the world of Christianity as I see it.This, of course, he blames on Satan, which is hardly surprising given that that's who Catholics blamed for Protestantism in the first place.
I think in retrospect he will find that this is an opinion he would have done better to keep to himself.
I don't see what's so bad about what he said. I can't see how even a protestant would take issue with it? And he added "as I see it" making it a clear opinion.
Taking a single statement from someone and developing this entire persona around it is weak. Santorum is the only good one in the bunch, no need to be so petty, Dr. A.

That depends on what is being raped. If you mean our freedom and tv watching time, then sure, women have raped us of that for a long time.

Re: Don't misunderestimate them....
I have been reading this thread with interest, much in the same way one watches a bus crash in to a child care centre with interest.
Probably one of the single most interestings thing ever. That, and 9/11.
I wonder how accurate these figures are? If true a 10% voting bloc could have significant sway in some of the closer elections.
No more than it always is. This is not something new they're pointing out, it happens every election. At every level there is funny business taking place in elections. They're only complaining to get sympathy for their party.

Besides, the picture is only a waste, if you have no interest in the Republican primaries, the top candidates and their battle with each other.
Sooo it's a waste then?

Re: How I learned to stop worrying and default...
I'm sorry to see that the Republican party has been thoroughly consumed by this movement of populist stupidity.
It's their own fault for starting up the Tea Party movement to rally up the dummies into voting with nonsense propaganda. Now that movement is out of control and the sensible people in their party (The Romney Republicans vs the Palin Republicans) can't stop it. It's the same thing the Nazis party was created for - to rally up the dummies - and we all know what happened when they went out of control.
The Republicans tried a political move and it back fired. Oh well.
The Dems stink too. They're progressive when they can be but ultimately answer to the corporations. So they will always make terrible decisions that hurt the people just the same.

Re: How I learned to stop worrying and default...
I agree a bit more with what yenmor wrote in response to this post, but that's not to say I disagree with you.
Your response to yenmor seems a more middle ground.
The Republican National Party would have had virtually no choice but to support Tea Party-supported candidates in order to prevent such a split.
Yeah, that's where they're at. No choice but to accept and support. But I'm not sure they can stand that any longer. I for one like it, because it just might open up a thrid party candidate run of some significance. Not to say anyone is beating Hilary, I have no doubt she is our next presdient. But in the future, if Republicans keep going further right, there just might be room for a third party Libertarian/Moderate candidate that could rally some support.

If you've got something to say then say it.
I had something to imply and I implied it.
I believe you did the same with that quote and no point to follow up with. I was as vague as you were with your implication.

Re: How I learned to stop worrying and default...
The Republican party has been so far right for so long I can no longer identify with them.
There are many in your party that identify with you. But the far right is currently the loudest, and the media fucking loves them for it.
But the Dems are now further right than they were years back, so if moderate is what you like then the current Democratic party is where you should be.
