God told GW Bush to fight the terrorists in Afghanistan, and to end the Tyranny in Iraq.
1. Bush Jr./Blair invaded Iraq based on WMD lies. Before the invasion, Bush Jr/Blair didn't care if the Saddam tyranny stayed or not, as long as the supposed "WMD's threat" was removed. The absurd "human rights rationale" for invasion was brought in only AFTER the lies of WMD were confirmed and the alliance needed an excuse to stay. That mass-murdering war criminals Bush Jr. and Blair can joyfully skip around today without any fear of criminal investigation shows that america/britian to be populated by pretty immoral people.
2. That you think god cares about ending some tyranny and not others is comical:
3. Going off topic: danger, danger, danger, . . . yadda, yadda, yadda

The irony. It burns like a chemical attack supported by american governments and corporations:
quote:
The provision of chemical precursors from United States companies to Iraq was enabled by a Ronald Reagan administration policy that removed Iraq from the State Department's list of State Sponsors of Terrorism. Leaked portions of Iraq's "Full, Final and Complete" disclosure of the sources for its weapons programs shows that thiodiglycol, a substance needed to manufacture mustard gas, was among the chemical precursors provided to Iraq from US companies such as Alcolac International and Phillips.

I think it would be best for 99% of americans if it wasn't a cakewalk for ANY candidate. There are so many issues against Obama, it would be better for 99% of americans if an intelligent/ethical/law-abiding/empathetic candidate made Obama sweat.
For example, since I am so against the repugnant military industrial complex, I would like someone LIKE Ron Paul (but not actually Ron Paul) to drill Obama about: budgets for cluster/phospherous bombs that kill children, money for hundreds of hegemonic military bases around the world (some of which are falsely called "embassies" by crack-meth-users), contracts for military aircraft that the Pentagon does not even want/use, etc. . . . (or how about platforms on human rights, or constitutional law, or MASSIVE corporate welfare give-aways, or torture at Guantanamo/Bagram, or . . .).
Unfortunately, the corporate-media will successfully impede any such meaningful debate and give full attention to "people" like Palin, Romney, and Gingrich. (Yeaaah Fox "News" and the people who watch it, yeaaah.)

Because america's founding father's were 1%ers, that could not have happened. They argued whether a king of america should exist. Indeed, Madison speaking of governments and laws from which the elite would rule said:

1% versus 99%. Has much changed in america since the 18th century?

LOOK! Over here! Something shiny!!!
History shows there are at least two successful ways to control the public. With violence/threat of violence or propaganda. America effectively uses propaganda. And lots of it. So indoctrinated to propaganda, americans are easily swayed by empty shiny objects.
quote:
[History] also documents the power of propaganda in a society whose political culture is dominated by a privately owned and corporately controlled news media.
So what does this corporate "news" offer us? The current republican candidates are some of the most immoral and unintelligent freaks ever collected under a circus tent. However, I think the current republican candidates are, in fact, a brilliantly organized distraction to keep one of the greatest "republican" presidents in office. All hail the shiny objects. Look, they sparkle! (pay no attention to the man behind the curtain)
I found the following short article that does a better and more detailed job of communicating this idea than me. If you have a moment, read ALL of it. And, as we continue to mock out the republican candidates, know for sure that the 1%ers will get the last laugh on US.
Again.
quote:
It’s overly simplistic to think that the Republicans are losing, just because their candidates may lose. The Republican Party, or more specifically, the plutocratic movement that owns and operates the party, is much better at setting and meeting long-range goals than are progressives, centrists, or even old school conservatives. They have their eye on the ball, not the election. And, on issues that matter to corporate and plutocratic interests, the ball has maintained an unabated rightward surge since about 1980, no matter what political party nominally claims to be in power.
quote:
But looking at the larger picture, the Republicans win because we are not debating or acting on the issues they’d rather have us not to debate or act on.

Well, I'm not married to the idea.
But, don't you ever lie awake and wonder how SO many people are supporting these republican candidates? Romney? Gingrich? Santorum? Bachman? Just a little twighlight zone-ish? C'mon, admit it, I won't tell anyone.

Re: LOOK! Over here! Something shiny!!!
Well, unless you have a study about morons you can site, I think it better to not think so peremptorily.
My words "brilliantly organized" were not from the article I shared, but rather from myself. And even with yours, and especially Rahvin's, excellent replies, I am still unsure if it was a COMPLETE mistake to use "brilliantly organized". Because the morons ARE being helped:
FIRSTLY:
quote:
[History] documents the power of propaganda in a society whose political culture is dominated by a privately owned and corporately controlled news media.
Page not found - Truthout
Nearly all of the US news media is owned by several large corporations. There is very little independent media that is being reached by the public. Thus, if the corporations have a bias or agenda, you can be sure the public is not being fully served. For example:
quote:
At the time of the first Persian Gulf War, CBS was owned by Westinghouse and NBC by General Electric. Two of the major nuclear weapons manufacturers owned two of the major networks. Westinghouse and GE made most of the parts for many of the weapons in the Persian Gulf War. It was no surprise, then, that much of the coverage on those networks looked like a military hardware show.
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/...040_sundaygoodman03.html
Can you see why a "liberal" pro-peace show like Phil Donahue would have been canceled during the run up to the Iraqi war? Can you see how the public is not being fully served by the corporate media?
SECONDLY:
The US election debates ARE game shows. And they ARE farces:
quote:
the League of Women Voters withdrew from debate sponsorship, in protest of the major party candidates attempting to dictate nearly every aspect of how the debates were conducted. On October 2, 1988, the LWV's 14 trustees voted unanimously to pull out of the debates, and on October 3 they issued a dramatic press release:
The League of Women Voters is withdrawing sponsorship of the presidential debates...because the demands of the two campaign organizations would perpetrate a fraud on the American voter. It has become clear to us that the candidates' organizations aim to add debates to their list of campaign-trail charades devoid of substance, spontaneity and answers to tough questions. The League has no intention of becoming an accessory to the hoodwinking of the American public.
United States presidential debates - Wikipedia
In the 1990s there were FORMAL Memorandum of Understanding contracts between the republican and democrat parties. This allowed both parties to avoid embarrassing items or platforms which they didn't want the public to be included.
quote:
It expresses a convergence of will between the parties, indicating an intended common line of action.
Memorandum of understanding - Wikipedia
Since the commission has been taken over by the Democratic and Republican parties forming today's version of the CPD, no Memorandum_of_understanding contracts are needed today.
quote:
The Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) began in 1987 by the Democratic and Republican parties to establish the way that presidential election debates are run between candidates for President of the United States. The Commission is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) corporation as defined by Federal US tax laws,[1] whose debates are sponsored by private contributions from foundations and corporations.[2]
Commission on Presidential Debates - Wikipedia
Reread that last part again: "whose debates are sponsored by private contributions from foundations and "corporations." CORPORATIONS!!! Multi ZILLION dollar corporations are helping the morons.
While I won't fully assert that morons are completely unable to successfully organize, but, in this case, they ARE being helped. And as Rahvin stated, in the end, it doesn't matter whether the republican or democrat candidate wins. It only matters that the elites or the 1%ers win.
I get the feeling you didn't read the article I linked. It's a short read, here it is again:

Afterwards, I usually do informal photo and video presentations of my trips. I did a formal presentation of the great primates I photographed in Uganda, Rwanda, and Borneo in a film fest in Kansas several years ago. That was fun, hope to do more like it in the future.
My avatar shows me in a desolate temple in Mrauk U, Myanmar (near the Bangladesh border). Kinda surprised no one ever asked me about my avatar before, . . . m'eh.
